..Being a great parent, walking my garden to see what grew the night before, travel to both familiar and exotic places, living life to the fullest, playing my guitars loudly and badly, playing Scrabble, all things New Orleans, eating pizza as often as possible, creating beautiful things out of crap others would pass by as garbage, crossword puzzles, body boarding, photography, having meaningful conversation with people who have a brain, pushing my boundaries, learning something I didn't know yesterday and being more kind tomorrow than I was today. Here's some of my art... enjoy...
Music
..I'm all over the music map: Van Morrison, Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, Tab Benoit, Stan Getz, Green Day, Marva Wright (the "Blues Queen of New Orleans"), Shelby Lynne, Vince Guaraldi, Mat Kearney, Al Green, Marc Broussard, Patty Griffin's rockier stuff, Fatboy Slim, Albert King, Thievery Corporation, Beausoleil, Marvin Gaye, Susan Tedeschi, Dixie Chicks, The Stones, Anders Osborne, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Tom Petty, Sade, BB King, old Sheryl Crow, Lloyd Jones, blues in general (Blues Fest!!), the cool jazz I grew up with, zydeco by just about anyone, a special interest in music from New Orleans and an unabashed love for 80's hair metal. Eclectic tastes to say the least.
..A few off the top of my head: Juno, Little Miss Sunshine, Lost in Translation, Amelie, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, High Fidelity, The Secretary, Kinky Boots, Green Card, Local Hero, Crossing Delancey, Valley Girl, Moulin Rouge, Sliding Doors, As Good As It Gets, Muriel's Wedding, Napoleon Dynamite.
Television
..I rarely get a chance to watch TV but if I do: Weeds which I loved so much I bought the 1st season on DVD and I am NOT a DVD buyer. Arrested Development, Top Chef, Anthony Bourdain No Reservations and most anything else on the Travel Channel, What Not to Wear, Real World/other stupid MTV reality shows, Sex and The City reruns, random bits of cable goodness and the assorted documentary. Like I said, not a big tv watcher.Except maybe in the winter.
Books
..I read constantly but I have trouble remembering authors. Some recent faves: Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafron(which you MUST read if you haven't), The Year of Yes (Maria Dahvana Headley), The Hours (Michael Cunningham), Secret Life of Bees, Broken For You, anything by David Sedaris.
Heroes
..Outsider artists. Women who don't feel the need to apologize for themselves. My amazing children who are growing into really, really neat people and my fabulous boyfriend who loves me despite my efforts to show him why he shouldn't.
Blurbs
About me:
Spunky, smart, edgy, quick-witted, artist's soul in a soccer-mommish exterior. Half-time mom of 2 kick-ass kidlets. I've got an esoteric vocabulary and I'm a voracious reader. I've been known to swear. A lot. I believe heaven might mean wearing flannel pjs 24/7. Wind storms are freaky. I wish tanning wasn't so dangerous. I can cook relatively well, I eat meat, and I like ice cream more than almost anything else. I heart gardening in the spring and summer to the exclusion of almost everything else. HDTV kicks major boo-tay. Being frugal makes me inordinately happy. Crocheting is mesmerizing. Travel is life changing and should happen often. Making art is the very best way to waste time. Blues music makes my soul shiver. Check out my pictures, read my blog and enjoy My Space!

Who I'd like to meet:
My 17 year old self. I'd tell me that I was going to be fine.

I hope you and Bob had a wonderful 4th of July! I've never met you, but it's obvious you make Bob a very happy man and I'm glad you two found each other :)
Thank you for adding me LeeAnne. And thank you for the compliment and encouragement. I loved reading your blog The Road Bump. I found myself smiling, laughing, and nodding often. You too are a beautiful person. THANK YOU for blogging about your "journey". You are in inspiration.
