Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Beach Boys, The Eagles, Queen, Otis Redding, Nina Simone, Paul Simon, Elton John, The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Coldplay, The Barenaked Ladies, Debussy etc etc.
People who made me (and continue to make me) want to write songs:
Jeff Buckley, Jackson Browne, Laura Marling, Counting Crows, John Mayer, Ben Folds, Del Amitri, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Rufus Wainwright, Weezer, Ryan Adams, Christan Slawinski, Alyssa Bonagura, The Black Crowes, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Amos Lee, Joni Mitchell etc etc.
Not musical, but just as important:
"Penny Lane" in Almost Famous, Paul Thomas Anderson, "A Moveable Feast", Barack Obama, Carlos Ruiz Zafon and Heineken.
Lee Broderick is a 20 year old singer, songwriter who first picked up a guitar at the age of 11.
Nothing new there.
But few have accomplished the successes that Lee has already experienced in the infancy of his live career. Supporting such credible artists as Willy Mason, Paolo Nutini, KT Tunstall and most played artist Daniel Powter, to name a few, Lee has toured extensively across the UK performing and crafting songs with passion, subtlety and an endearing honesty.
Lee has intelligible modern influences from acclaimed artists such as Counting Crows, John Mayer and Ben Folds, coupled with predictably guitar based legends such as Bob Dylan and Jeff Buckley, that combine to produce a mature, guitar based sound and an engaging delivery well beyond his years.
With Lee intelligently embracing the intensity of his new band whilst artfully maintaining the vulnerability of his solo show 'Lee Broderick' is a talent to watch in 2009.
