Well... i'm originally from the Potteries (Stoke-on-Trent for those who don't know!) but I get about a bit and have lived in various towns and cities (Stoke, Reading, Swindon, Bolton, Wolverhampton, Bristol, Oxford). Have been dj'ing for over 17 years at various venues across the UK. Am also a mature stooooodent... studying towards a degree in Sound Technology & Digital Music. I also produce/remix music in my spare time... if you want to hear a piece, click on the ninja pirates pic (with my name above it) in my friend space, or click here. Or, for my latest stuff, click on the Filthy Biscuit in my friend space... or just clicky here.
You can currently catch me playing other peoples records in the Ice-House at Birmingham's biggest nightclub, Oceana, on Monday & Saturday nights and in the NY Disco on Friday nights...
The track currently playing is my remix of the Arctic Monkeys track, "When the Sun Goes Down" that I did last year. It was played on Radio One (yay!) by Chris Coco and strangely, was also played on Radio SWH (???) in Latvia, despite the fact that I never sent them a copy. Not that i'm complaining. It seems that Chris Coco had played a DJ set, in Latvia, on the Robbie Williams tour only days before the station played it... so I think there's a link there somewhere. Anyway, i'm obviously happy that Chris Coco probably played it in his sets on the Robbie tour, with thousands of people attending each one... all good in da hood!
Here's Chris Coco's chart for April 2006...
And I have just discovered that someone else (claiming to be futureshock - not sure if it's thee futureshock though!?!?) had it at number one in their small chart (click here). DMC wanted to sign and release this track too (yay) but Domino Records (Arctic Monkeys' Label) refused to give sample clearance (boo).
I recently came across a paragraph about this tune on t'interweb. It's a quote from a man called Tony Fletcher, who's known for his biographies of Keith Moon, The Clash and REM, his novel 'Hedonism' and for his DJ residency at the legendary LimeLight club in New York. The quote comes from his journal written in 2006 while on a skiing holiday.
"Hearing the devastating – and I mean, mindblowing - Lee Buxton bootleg remix ‘When the Bass Goes Down’ on Chris Coco’s Blue Room show (courtesy of Radio 1’s Listen Again option, the hotel’s free wi-fi and my ever-trusty Laptop) while relaxing on my bed Saturday night"
