This is not the America I grew up in. These are not American values. If this is what a "Christian nation" does, I want no part of it. What did ANY of these people do to us? Why are our soldiers being used so cavalierly in such a monstrous endeavor? It is time for the true government of the United States of America to look in a mirror and take back their country!

In 1965, when I was eight, I was suicidal as a result of undiagnosed dyslexia and the awareness that everyone I used to know and trust had turned against me. Although I dreamed of ending this hell I was in, I was scared. Eventually I talked myself out of it by hanging on to the only reason I could think of to carry on.
The previous year was an election year and I was surprised that even though Lyndon Johnson has succeeded John Kennedy after Kennedy was shot, there was a real chance that Barry Goldwater could win the election and become president instead of Johnson. That Johnson won seemed perfectly proper to me, but it didn't mean that it couldn't have been Goldwater.
If I killed myself, I wouldn't know who the next president would be. Somehow I convinced myself that that was really important to know. It has kept me going through many hard times, though most elections since then left me feeling, "I was waiting around for this?"
THIS is the election I was waiting for. THIS is the next president I saved myself to see. THIS has made this veil of tears worthwhile. It is indeed A New Day. We are all so lucky to be here to take part in it.
