"The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side." - Hunter S. Thompson.............................................................. A good musician can play what he thinks. What seperates him from a great musician is what he thinks. Miles Davis
Nail that Beat are a Dance/Funk band. All their material has the emphasis on making the audience get up out of their seats and shaking their booties. He also has an album of originals available on itunes, this too has been played on radio. A competent and respected bass player, essential for a funk band of this calibre.
Drums: Mark Rote. Mark has been in many bands, Local outfits to nation touring 'known' bands over the last 30 years. He started when he was 14. A very tight, conscientious, and reliable drummer who never misses a beat. The combination of Lee and Mark is an unbeatable formula for the ‘engine room’ of Nail that Beat.

I started playing alto sax in high school (Blacktown Boys 1971) Heard Stanley Carke in RTF and his solo albums circa 1974. Immediately bought the best bass I could afford $60. Japanese job. Jammed with friends etc for 2-4 years. My father (Bryan James Finch) rest his soul, was a terrific and passionate alto/tenor/baritone sax player who taught me a great deal of the technical side of things plus a lot of the jazz and Rock n' Roll 'attitude' needed to play music. Also, the conviction and pure love of music despite the many setbacks/frustrations and meathead venue owners and agents along the way. I formed a few bands with my father, blues and jazz mainly, and became very close due to our shared passion (and genes I suppose). His passing (in1993)was a great loss.
I toured Australia for many years, with many bands with many styles with varying degrees of satisfaction. Now, at the age of 50, I've decided to form my own band, 'NAIL THAT BEAT', playing my style and the songs I choose, including a few of my own compositions (can be heard right here). Also available on itunes, the album is called 'Gums Thumbs 'n Drums', check it out, you'll get a laugh. Never again am I going to play second fiddle to some half baked egotistical guitarist or some lame Tom Jones impersonator. Guess what? Its working. The dance floor is always full, we have a fat time, the work is coming in, radio airplay and I'm getting that illusive satisfaction at last. Thanks Dad, Stanley, Marcus, Victor, Larry graham, Bootsy, Alphonso etc etc.
I've recently been given a show on 2 EAR FM 107.5 and 102.9, 7pm Mondays. I always wanted to try my hand at this and I've been told I am a "Natural". This gives me the opportunity to play music never before broadcast in 'these here parts'. Basically it will be all my myspace friends. The best bassplayers in the world...and a smattering of other musicians i.e. hot sax players (Breckers, etc)etc.
Regards, The Bass Megalomaniac.
A little ditty, from a good friend...
Lee Finch loves to play the bass.
A lord of low frequency taste.
he has gums thumbs and drums
far too funky for some.
who can't handle the heat in his space.
