Tessa Lee sings with rare clarity and truthfulmess of spirit. A songwriter of considerable talent, Lee draws on folk, jazz and country influences to frame her poignant lyrics. Her debut album, “Warm Orange Glow,” was released in 2005. Lee has toured in Victoria, Western Australia, Canada and the USA. Since relocating to Hobart in 2008, Lee has been gathering an audience through her personal and engaging performances. Her appearance at the Cygnet Folk Festival in 2008 was warmly received by all.
Hailing from the south-west Victorian coastal town of Barwon Heads, Tessa began writing songs as soon as she first picked up a guitar. With music flowing through her veins, she up and moved across the continent to study jazz at the prestigious Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, graduating in 2004 with a Bachelor of Music (Jazz/Flute).
She then set about recording and co-producing her first original, independent release in the winter of 2005. "Warm Orange Glow" was launched in November 2005 to critical acclaim. Lee's song "Out of The Night," (a folk ballad, set in Fremantle, WA) earnt her a nomination at The 2005 Western Australian Music Industry's annual Song Of The Year award for Best World/Folk Song.
Since then Lee has toured Victoria and appeared at The Folk, Rhythm and Life Festival in Wangaratta, the Denmark Festival of Voice (southern WA!), the Cygnet Folk Festival (TAS), the Lose Yer Shoes festival (Canada), and supported Kate Ceberano and Jules (The Panics).
Once again I have a favour to ask of everyone out there in the MySpace world, and I’m sorry because I know these things can get a bit annoying, but every vote counts, and I am happy to return the favour if you need me to vote or rate anything of yours, so… if you get the chance could you please rate my new song “Million Miles Away” on Triple J Unearthed?
Hiya, thanks for being a friend - I enjoyed visiting YourSpace :-) Keep it up May your life be full of love, light and fun... hugs SOREN - Beats for change - NYERTUN
I am back in Melbourne on Wednesday night for a very special
performance with the immortal Victoria Williams. We are playing The
Empress Hotel in Fitzroy. It starts at 8:00pm. So come on down and
spend an evening with us before Victoria bids Australia a reluctant
fare-the-well and heads back home to the beautiful expanse of the
Californian desert …
