NOTE: IF YOU ARE PRO-DECLAWING, DO NOT SEND A FRIEND REQUEST TO ME:

PLEASE DO NOT DECLAW

Declawing is so much more drastic than the name implies. Claws are important to your cat's health. They use them daily for scratching, climbing, balance, defense, playing, kneading, and even self expression. From a cat's point of view, claws are not optional. No cat wants to be declawed! Declawing not only removes the claws, it removes part of the paw itself. What an extreme penalty to pay for engaging in natural and beneficial behaviors! Please do not make a decision that will alter your cat's life forever and probably cause them to fear you and their Vet, as well!

Declawing is Inhumane!

PLEASE SPAY OR NEUTER

Someone asked me why I am so against declawing? I replied with all the reasons I have listed above and also stated that Mother Nature made them with claws for a reason. They asked me why then is it okay to spay or neuter? Where do you draw the line? My reply is simple:

Declawing causes suffering, spaying prevents it! This is common sense! Plus, I personally know what it is like to awaken from surgery to find a part of your arm is unexpectantly gone forever, without getting to have a say in the matter. It's devastating.

Be Humane! Spay or Neuter Your Cat!

MY BORING LIFE:

When I was a kid, I dreamed of becoming a ballerina, but fate had other plans for me. Now I'm XX years old and haven't danced in 20 years. I've survived a near-fatal illness and two divorces. It's time for me to start dancing again! I also plan to do a lot of traveling to New York, London and Paris.

I admit it: I'm a girl who loves to shop & a total eBay addict! I also love driving my Buick and snapping photographs at Solvang, Disneyland, Sea World and the zoos in L.A., San Diego and Santa Barbara.

Forever in My Heart (Click for another pic!)
it seems like yesterday
... but it was long ago ...

I was my father's in-home health care provider for most of the final 18 months of his life. Congestive Heart Failure is a real b*tch. I miss Dad more than words can say, but am relieved that his suffering is over. He was a wonderful man. I was incredibly lucky to have been adopted by my Dad and Mom. Luckier still to have had Dad in my life for nearly 42 years. R.I.P. DAD.

Due to the disabilities my illness caused, I'm basically housebound. It's very difficult to meet new people! I work from home, maintaining several official websites for several popular cartoon voice over actors. I've made a lot of friends on the web via these websites, bur most live far away. I'd love to meet some new friends in Central and Southern California.

Make sure you check out my eBay Auctions!! My user name is BusterBabe. Lots of items will be listed over the holidays, October - January. I'll be offering discounts to my MySpace friends soon, so check out my blog from time to time for more details!

I love Disneyland!

MY FAVORITE CLIENTS:

Robin Shelby Navlyt, Slimer in Ghostbusters II

The Official Robin Shelby
www.robinshelby.com

Robin Shelby: The perky Ms. Shelby (formerly known as Robin Navlyt) is a very gifted singer, actress and one of my sweetest friends. Robin has been in some great movies (Ghostbusters 2, Beverly Hills Cop 3, Willow), TV shows (Cybill), and plays, but is waiting for her big break. I think that wait is almost over!!!

The Official Tara Strong

The Official Tara Strong
www.tarastrong.com

Tara Strong: This ultra busy lady is a twenty year veteran of cartoon voice over. She is best known as Bubbles (The Powerpuff Girls), Ben 10, Raven (Teen Titans), Timmy (Fairly Oddparents), Kylie Griffin (XGB), Rikku (FFX, Kingdom Hearts), Dil Pickles (Rugrats) and many others.

Official Mary Kay Bergman Memorial

Official Mary Kay Bergman
www.mkbmemorial.com

Mary Kay Bergman: Mary Kay was Disney's official voice of Snow White, most of the female voices on South Park and Scooby-Doo's Daphne Blake. Mary Kay was also a victim of an undiagnosed mental illness, Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Sadly, Mary Kay ended her own life on 11/11/99, at the age of 38. Her memorial is more than just about her career, we offer support to anyone who asks and links to suicide prevention and mental health information.

Dino Andrade
www.dinoandrade.com

Dino Andrade: Ms. Bergman's widower is also a voice actor. He's very talented, but not as well known as his late wife. At least, not yet! I am truly honored, not only to call him my friend, but also to work for him and have his support and this endorsement at MKB's original URL which is a dual gateway to both MKB sites.

In addition to Dino's official site at dinoandrade.com, I run two other websites for him: A & B Demoworks, where Dino creates pro demo reels for voice over actors and The Wrap Patrol, his company that strikes sets after studios finish filming on them. And as of July '07, I run the MySpace page for Dino's cool website: www.SoulGeek.com.

The Official Charlie Adler

The Official Charlie Adler
http://adler.what.cc

Charlie Adler: This popular voice director and actor has over one hundred regular characters in more than eighty animated series, features and specials to his credit. He can be heard an average of twenty times a day all over the world, most notably as Buster Bunny in Steven Spielberg's Tiny Toon Adventures and Ickis in AAAHH!!! Real Monsters!

Frank Welker Homepage

FRANK WELKER RULES THE VOICE OVER WORLD! If you like video games, cartoons, film or TV, chances are you've heard Frank! He's voiced over 1200 roles, a lot of them, animals. He's been the voice of Freddy on Scooby-Doo for over 36 years and is Scooby now, too. I am proud to have Frank's "Seal of Approval" on my website and I'm honored to have his help. He even manages to make time to answer fan mail I forward to him. Frank is super cool! :)

Honey Moon and Me

My friend (Nora) & I are both avid toy collectors & sellers. There are toys in every room of my house and our cats have more toys than some children do! We adore toys! My mom gave me a Honey Moon doll for my birthday and my dad read the funnies to me every Sunday. As a result, I love Dick Tracy and have some really cool toys and memorabilia dating from the 1940s to present day. Currently, I'm reacquiring the dolls I used to own as a kid. I wish I would have held on to my originals because mint condition Liddle Kiddles can cause financial ruin! LOL Nora & I also have tons & tons of Disneyana. My favorites are Disneyland souvenirs from the 1960s. Anyway, if you have any unwanted toys, we'll gladly give them a home! So, box'em and send'em! LOL

Movies

The Whole Wide World, Happy Accidents, POTC 1, 2 & 3, Happy Feet, The Twonky, The Magic Christian, The Forbidden Zone, Some Like It Hot, Yellow Submarine, How to Frame a Figg, The Incredible Mr. Limpet, Rollerball, Corpse Bride, Nightmare Before Christmas, The Long, Long Trailer, One Hour Photo, The Abominable Dr. Phibes, Shaun of the Dead, Love at First Bite, Highlander, Alice in Wonderland, Lady and the Tramp, Dumbo, Peter Pan, Pinocchio ... and many more!

Trevor Goddard as Kano in Mortal Kombat

I'll watch anything with Jackie Chan in it! I loved Trevor Goddard as Kano in Mortal Kombat. I'm probably a bit biased - Trevor used to be my next-door neighbor. The Wizard of Oz, old Danny Kaye movies and MGM musicals are also favorites. And Ghostbusters! The very first website I created was The Ghostbusters Fan Forum and it was a lot of fun! I made a lot of cool friends and it opened other doors for me, especially in the voice over community.

If I had legs I'd kick your ass!

Another movie I really like and have watched over and over is HELLBOY. I loved Ron Perlman's performance and all the special effects rocked.

Books

by Tim Lawson

Since there's no place else to mention it: I love the colorful artwork of Peter Max, SHAG (Josh Agle) & Lisa Petrucci! I also love the works of Roz Chast, and the dark, yet humorous offerings of Charles Addams and Edward Gorey.

As for books: I'll read anything written by a voice actor or about voice acting. I was honored to find my name in The Magic Behind the Voices after helping the author. (Thanks, Tim!)

My New Rescue Kitten, Trixie LaRue

After Sunny passed away, I wasn't sure if we'd bring another kitten into the house. Well, I didn't get one. I got two! I adopted Trixie (above), who looks like Gracie's clone and Nora adopted Harley (below). Both of them had a lot of health problems when we first got them in June 2008. I'm happy to say they're doing great now. Their rescue was sponsored by Randy Jackson, Morris the cat and Li'l Mo, the first of one million kittens adopted. You can read about 9 Lives Million Cat Rescue here. If you live in So Cal, please rescue a pet from Los Angeles Animal Services today.

Nora's New Rescue Kitten, Harley Quinn

I'm beside myself with grief. Harley was struck by a car and killed on 07/26/2009.

Doreen and Nora Kicking Back in Solvang

Doreen and Nora Kick Back: If you've ever been to Solvang, you know you do a lot of walking there! Luckily, we found a few places to sit and just enjoy the sights, which is the theme of my composite postcard. If you ever go there, look for the ostrich farms along the way, they're trippy! Photos taken: 01/04/2006.

Halloween Doreen

I'm pretty sure the photo of me is from Halloween 1965: Costumes were different back in the day, not many TV or movie tie-ins yet. My mom loved leopard print and drew whiskers on my face, she didn't want it covered by a mask. With me is Terry, the greatest dog in the world. She was 15 and I was almost 4½. I inherited Terry from my brothers, Larry (05/15/1954-11/09/1961), who died before I was adopted in '62 and Alan, who was busy with college by '66.

Nora and I Spliting Peas in Buellton: This pic is actually a composite of two photos! Nora took two photos of me and I took two of her. One in each position. Then I spliced the best two together (the sign actually does have that line down the center, btw). We were amazed at how well our idea worked, but not surprised that Nora wound up being the one swinging the mallot! Photos taken: 01/04/2006.

The Official Tara Strong

Mary Kay Bergman

When I was ill with NF in Feb. 2004, I was given a four percent chance of survival. Dino Andrade held my hand for hours while I was in the ICU. You can call me crazy if you want to, but I think Dino's "Red Haired Angel" (aka Mary Kay Bergman) wouldn't let me leave here just yet. There's little other explanation, given how far gone I was (end stage organ failure). It's a miracle that I didn't lose my entire arm, too. Thank you, Dino! Love you! Many thanks also go to Nora for spending every day of the entire six weeks I was hospitalized with me. Not very many people would do that!

Some guy once wrote to me to tell me my favorite avatar (formerly seen as my default pic) is "silly." To me, it's "symbolic," or "inspiring." I was looking for graphics and found a cgi ballerina that made me cringe. Its right arm had an uncanny resemblance to mine. The dark line where my incision scars begin and the deep, dark armpit, similar to my amputated one. Even the glove resembles my former wound bandages and current compression bandages. I put my head on the cg body to help feel better about my arm and to inspire other Necrotizing Fasciitis survivors to feel better about their scars. I'd like to emphasize that I see us as "survivors" and not as "victims!" The aftermath of Necrotizing Fasciitis is very stressful emotionally. You're happy to be alive, but may also have to spend the rest of your life with scars, deformity, loss of mobility or range of motion, extensive nerve damage, an impaired immune system, Lymphedema, chronic pain and all sorts of other conditions. I got it all and then some. The hardest part is explaining what happened to me. I'd like to be looked at as "normal," but I can't hide my scars. When I made the image seen above, I was depressed. It's my head again and I'm wearing an old paper doll tutu. My good arm is supporting my bad arm and the wings denote the seriousness of my illness: "This could've been me, if the NF had won." I've shared my story online because deadly bacteria can infect anyone at any time: during a routine medical procedure, at your gym or anywhere in your community. I wouldn't wish NF on my worst enemy (if I had one). I hope my efforts will spare someone else from suffering. -Doreen Mulman

WHAT IS NECROTIZING FASCIITIS?

Necrotizing Fasciitis is a soft tissue infection that causes necrosis (death) of subcutaneous tissue and fascia. Management consists of early diagnosis, broad-spectrum antibiotic coverage, aggressive surgical debridement, wound closure (including painful skin grafts), and intensive supportive care. Mortality estimates reported in medical literature have ranged from 20 to 75%.

MRSA & NECROTIZING FASCIITIS SURVIVORS UNITE!
NF Survivors, People Coping with MRSA and Other Resources:

Updated 04/07/09: NF/MRSA survivors on MySpace include: Veronica (MRSA/NF Survivor), Bayou Lena (MRSA Warrior) who is currently in isolation with MRSA in her bloodstream and left lung. She is 29 years old. Samantha[2] (NF and MRSA Survivor), whose illness started as just a pimple on her thigh, Pam[2], whose grandmother has been coping with MRSA and Donnie (NF/MRSA Survivor) who lost both of his big toes and part of his right foot to NF/MRSA in 2004. Donnie has had several bouts with MRSA since then. In 2007, his daughter also had a staph infection, which was originally diagnosed as eczema. Other miraculous survival stories include cajun queen (NF survivor), who like my good friend, Nicole (NF survivor), contracted flesh eating bacteria after having a C-section and Kim (NF survivor), whose compelling story I have published on my NF site's "Letters Page." A truely amazing double-survival story, RIST (NF survivor), contracted NF while pregnant! Her baby boy was delivered while she was in a medically-induced coma. I'm happy to report that both mother and miracle baby survived! Of course, every survival story is unique and there's more experiences to be told by: Alicia The Warrior (NF and MRSA survivor), Chris (NF survivor), Terri (whose son survived NF), Camille (whose husband survived NF), sarah (NF survivor), c (whose husband survived NF), Marla[1] (NF survivor who founded the Yahoo NF Group), Craig (NF survivor), Pam[1] (NF survivor), Richard (NF survivor), SeaStormm (NF survivor), Team Adamantine (NF survivor), P-Lew 3:16 (NF survivor) and T.S. Bolton (NF survivor and cofounder of the Yahoo NF Group). R.I.P. Karlene (Necrotizing Fasciitis Survivor) is maintained by her daughter since Karlene's sudden passing on 8/22/2007, Samantha[1] (NF survivor) who contracted the disease in Dec. 2003, at the tender age of 11 and ANGEL who has been coping with MRSA for the past year. Then there's Joe, whose sister has been coping with MRSA since Summer 2007. He recently started a Germophobe blog here at MySpace. There's also another lady named Marla[2] who has a very informative blog and profile page you should check out. Please feel free to email me or my business partner Big Bad Wolf (Nora) as she is also very knowledgeable on the topics of NF and MRSA (she was my caretaker during my NF bout and is an MRSA survivor herself). She would be more than happy to talk to you. Lastly, Dirty Hospitals, MRSA Awareness, MRSA Superbug, BE AWARE *MRSA* and Amend The Cap are very important pages for everyone to check out, not just for those of us whose lives have been forever affected by community- or hospital- acquired infections. -Doreen

Feel free to check out my friend catagories: MRSA Survivors, NF Survivors (or Family Members) and LE Buddies (Fellow Sufferers of Lymphedema). If you should have been added, but I missed you, please let me know. Thanks.

YOU CAN HELP RAISE AWARENESS:

My friend and fellow NF survivor, Alicia Cole, has created a social network to go hand-in-hand with her charitable organization, Patient Safety ASAP. I personally feel that it is every person's responsibility to be armed with the previously unspoken knowledge necessary to protect themselves during a hospital stay. We have the knowledge and we want to share it with you, before you find yourself or a loved one in the hospital.

Visit My Page at Patient Safety

Please visit Alicia's informative sites at: patientsafetyasap.org and patientsafetyasap.ning.com. We can put an end to hospital-acquired infections (HAIs), such as MRSA, VRE and C. Diff. (hospital superbugs) and clean up our dirty hospitals! Hospitals need reliable staff, not staph!!!

MORE YOU CAN DO TO RAISE AWARENESS:

Get some MRSA ribbons and buttons for your webpages in the photo galleries at BE AWARE *MRSA*. Please protect your pals from infection!

I have made Necrotiziing Fasciitis, Hospital-Acquired Infection and Sepsis SURVIVOR RIBBONS for your MySpace page or other webpage. Many of them are available in my PhotoBucket account and I also have a bunch uploaded to MySpace in my Survivor Ribbons album.

IF YOU ARE SUFFERING FROM RECURRRING SKIN INFECTIONS:

I don't think I've met a survivor yet (myself included), that isn't afraid of a new infection, especially if they find a new wound of some sort. The last serious MRSA infection I had was in May 2007. I've been using Manuka Honey since then and it has really made a big difference. I still get little lumps, bumps and 'pimples' from time to time, and Manuka Honey usually heals them in 1 or 2 days. There's a lot of great products at The Honey Doctor and other stores. Studies have found that Manuka Honey contains very powerful antibacterial, antimicrobial, antiviral, antioxidant, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and antifungal properties, making it extremely effective in treating a wide variety of health conditions. There is documented evidence indicating that Manuka Honey is capable of destroying the MRSA bacterium. Bacteria has the ability to mutate and become resistant to elements that are attempting to destroy them, such as antibiotics. However, Manuka Honey destroys bacteria in a different manner, by drawing water out of the bacteria, making it impossible for the microbes to survive. To date, there has been no reported bacteria that has been able to develop a resistance to Manuka Honey. In addition to the Manuka Honey, I also boost my immunity (during an outbreak) by taking a sip or two of Colloidal silver. Colloidal silver appears to be a powerful, natural antibiotic and preventative against infections. Just don't take a lot of it, you don't want to turn blue! Anyway, now you know "my secret formula!"

I re-read your profile and there are a lot of things on there that I can relate to. As a fellow lypmhedema sufferer, single all my life, and once led a very productive life,  I know what it's like to feel alone and have people look at me in wonderment. Little kids especially are inquisitive of my condition. My sister and her family don't quite understand what it's like to have a debilitating disease like LE. Yet they expect me to understand their health problems. My sister has Chrohns disease and I was her caregiver for 2 years when she almost died from a perforated large intestine. My lymphedema is overshadowed by my obesity problem and everything evolves around that in their world. I've been in the hospital and a nursing facilty since July 30th with staph aureous from my LE. It was touch and go but it didn't turn in to MRSA thank God. I am on IV Nafacillin for 4 weeks and hope to be released by Sept 4th. It just finally hit me how close I was to meeting my maker. I was telling my cousin about you the other day. You are an amazing example of how a person has to constantly fight your disease and your own personal feelings. Just wanted you to know you have someone else who does understand. Have a goodern!

Hello, my friend. Another Tankism to brighten your week. Hope it helps :)

Look at life from the perspective of what you have NOW, what you are grateful for NOW. If you continue to look into the PAST as to what you have lost, when you open your PRESENT, you will not like what you get. However, by focusing firmly on where you are directing your FUTURE by thinking on those things which are good and pure and what you do want to happen, as you unfold your PRESENT, you will find the gift that you know you really want. And, it really is that simple. As a wise person once said: If you believe you can't, you're rightif yet if you believe you CAN, you're right. What do you believe? :)

I see you removed me from your "best online buds" Doreen.
What have I done to deserve that?
Well...I wish you would be more active on Myspace than those other sites....my own site has turned into a ghost town because of so many thinning out, I even had to delete so many of them for that!
Non active "friends" get deleted, it has always been my policy...this isn't soley meant towads you, I know you have alot going on and that's COOL....I am just disapointed I had to kick so many off recently.
Hope you and the cats/kids are doing well over there!
