At
Left Is Best we're asking two questions -
Is left-wing the politics the best way to take our
country, and our world, forward? Or.. are things
best left as they are: materialistic,
militaristic, and corrupt?
Left Is Best
Promotions is a socialist political arts forum, seeking to encourage lively debate
among switched-on people in Wales on
politics locally, nationally, and around the globe.
Eventually, we aim to become the focus of
alternative thinking for creative, concientious people in Wales.
Our intentions include:
-Putting on live gig
nights for alternative/political bands and solo
artists,initially in Newport;
-Arranging for
left-wing poets and writers to give live readings
of their work;
-Making poetry, short stories,
and articles available online, as submitted by
users of the website;
-Displaying any visual
artwork and photography submitted by users of the
website;
-Encouraging debate and lively
argument, which WILL involve allowing people who
disagree with our ideas to submit intelligent
arguments and displaying their
comments.
-The wealth we
produced has to be more evenly distributed to all
sections of society;
-The short-sighted
foreign policy outlook of Western governments
inevitably leads to a culture of 'War for profit',
most notably and shamefully in Iraq;
-Democracy must
prevail, but is currently being eroded and
undermined by the influence of huge media
corporations and their stifling of the independent
press;
-Every child born has
the same right as every other to the highest
standard of education, healthcare, and
recreational facilites;
-Racism and fascism
are the ignorant, narrow-minded reactions of those
who fail to understand the problems we are faced
with.
- Rock bands and
solo artists who are in complete agreement with,
or sympathetic to, our beliefs and are looking for
opportunities to play live, initially, in
Newport;
- Poets and authors who would like
their work to be available to users of this
website for free;
- Filmakers and photographers
who would like trailers of their work ,or short
films and photographs to be shown on this
site;
- Anyone producing alternative clothing
with socialist themes who is looking for free
promotion;
- Anyone with an opinion on
political issues who would like to write and
submit an article on any relevant subject from a
socialist view point, and is willing to argue
their point.

bulletins, come to our events, and spread the
