Left of the Dial on KEOS's Blurbs |
About me:
"Left of the Dial" is a two-hour radio program that airs on KEOS 89.1 FM College Station/Bryan Wednesday nights 9pm - 11pm, hosted by longtime radio host, musician and music journalist Kelly Minnis.
"Left of the Dial" brings classic college rock radio back to the left end of the dial. The show covers everything from the birth of alternative rock in the '60s with bands like The Stooges, The MC5 and The Velvet Underground through '70s punk/glam, '80s post-punk/goth/indie/electronic/hiphop through the indie rock/grunge boom of the '90s and the current wave of alternative artists.
We have in-studio guests on the show frequently. Please check the blog for downloads from those sessions plus check the photo album for exclusive in-studio photos.
Call 979-779-KEOS or email redchapterjubilee@yahoo.com to make requests
You can also find information about "Buttrawk DJ," a monthly program that airs as part of the Rock Formation series on Thursdays 9p-midnight. During that program I spin classic hard rock and metal, from its origins in the "hard blues" of Cream, Hendrix, and Zeppelin in the late '60s through the '70s as the music streamlined with bands like Bad Company, Rainbow, Ted Nugent, and KISS to the New Wave of British Metal that kicked off the '80s metal resurgence, through Seattle (grunge WAS metal for the most part) up to today's new metal bands like Priestess, Early Man, Jesu and Saviours. I also have a pretty wide definition of what makes hard rock, and in the right context, maybe you too can see how that first Pat Benatar album is pretty close to metal. Tune in to find out.
