Left One Lower is a Pop/Rock band from Los Angeles, CA. Their new album “Left Brain/Right Brain” is due out in March 2006.
Many of their songs (i.e. “Chatroom Romance”) are influenced by artists like All-American Rejects, Fall Out Boy, Blink-182 and Green Day, yet have a distinct humor and notable vocal harmonics that make it a fresh blend of Pop and Punk. These songs are dubbed their “Left Brain” tracks. The album will also include material from lead singer Toby Madigan’s solo career on the “Right Brain” side of the album. On songs like “I Need Somebody (I Can Talk to),” for example, Left One Lower emulates the intimacy of artists like James Blunt, Train and even appeals to fans of singers like Jason Mraz, Howie Day, and Richard Marx.
The band was formed last year by lead vocalist Toby Madigan. Madigan, who is also the principal songwriter for the band, is originally from Rogers City, MI (Pop. 4,000) and has been singing and touring with various acts since he was 18 years old. He first appeared in the national tour of the All-American Singers, starred in Jesus Christ Superstar, and was a featured entertainer for Royal Caribbean.
Upon arrival in Los Angeles, Toby was picked up by a pop/rock band called “Branded,” represented by legendary music attorney Owen Sloane, who works closely with him to this day. He later went on to work with producer Christian B. (Celine Dion’s “A New Day Has Come”) and was a songwriter for “American Junior” finalist Chantel Kohl.
Other band members include Mike Pehl from Orange County, CA on acoustic and electric guitars, as well as songwriting. Todd Tackett from Tulsa, OK playing keyboards as well as producing and songwriting. And finally, on drums is Tyler Walton, who is also from Orange County, CA.
Left One Lower currently performs in the Los Angeles area. They have received numerous awards, such as “Best Lyrics of All-Time (Pop/Punk)” on www.garageband.com and were recently featured on www.PulseNow.com’s digital satellite radio station.
