The American Legion Riders

The American Legion Riders are members of the American Legion who are also motorcycle enthusiasts. They can be found participating in parades, partaking in motorcycling events, and supporting the communities in which they live, work, and play. Members of the ALR come from the Legion, the Legion Auxilliary, and the Sons of the American Legion. The American Legion Riders were formed...
...to participate in parades and other ceremonies that are in keeping with the Aims and Purposes of the American Legion.
...to promote motorcycle safety programs and to provide a social atmosphere for American Legion members who share the same interest.
...to use our Association to promote and support programs of the American Legion.

Harry O	Apr 2 2008 4:20 AM It is with deep sadness that we report the remains of Army Sgt. Keith “Matt” Maupin have been recovered and identified. Iraqi Freedom Hero Maupin was captured April 9th 2004. One week later he appeared in a video released by his captors. Several months later, his captors released a grainy video depicting Sgt. Maupin’s execution in captivity. Due to the poor quality of the tape, analysts could not confirm the identity of the individual in the video. The following was reported by Nishi Gupta of HOI 19 News – “We have confirmed tonight that the remains of Army reservist Matt Maupin have been found.” “A spokeswoman for Maupin's family says military representatives visited Matt's father, Keith, at the Yellow Ribbon Support Center in Cincinnati.” “Keith Maupin was told DNA tests from remains and a shirt confirmed they were of Matt's, said the spokeswoman.” “The family plans to issue a prepared statement and is asking for privacy in this matter.” To the Maupin family we offer our heartfelt sympathy during this difficult time. . . Last year, thanks to all your hard work and commitment, 20,000 cards were collected and shipped to Iraq & Afghanistan!!! How awesome is that?! LET'S DO IT AGAIN THIS YEAR -- I KNOW WE CAN!!! :) All the information is below. (I have a pretty, printable flyer I can send you as well - just email me and I'll send it to you.) This is a great project for scout troops, businesses and other organizations to get involved in tangibly showing support for our troops. The troops can't see the yellow ribbon magnets on our cars...but they CAN hold a letter or card in their hand and KNOW someone back home REALLY CARES! :) Please forward this email to anyone and everyone you think may be interested in participating, post the info on message boards, on your blog(s), etc and see what you can do to get others involved. Not just one of us can achieve this on our own...it will take us all working together to make it happen.
