Legitimate Theater Company's Blurbs |
About me:
Legitimate Theater Company is proud to announce it's revival of Twelfth Night Or What You Will: The Drinking Game! The show will run in September at One Eyed Jacks in New Orleans!
The Legitimate Theater Company was founded in the Summer of 2002 by Richard Lovejoy, Eric Meyer, Jason Narvy, and Ian Schoen, with the ridiculous idea that it would forever change the way theater was done, seen, and thought about.
Our mission is to create theater that is ego-less and rough in order to reach a cynical public: those who are both tired of pop culture and skeptical of high art. We strive for a kind of theater that does not try to trick, impress, or convert people. Instead, our aim is to laugh with our audiences as we offer ideas for them to take or leave, and to create a sense of camaraderie with them in our collective search for identity, belief, and conviction. We pursue these goals with full-length plays presented in intimate theater spaces, as well as with less conventional projects, such as street theater and multi-media events.
Why do we do plays?
Live theatre can do things that movies cant. In our plays, we try to fully exploit the uniqueness of live theatre in order to give our audiences a form of entertainment that is fresh, personal, and engaging.
Because we want to offer our plays as popular entertainment, we always charge less than the price of a movie ticket (normally $10 in New York City), often pricing our shows at 5 or 7 dollars. We keep our prices so low because we feel that plays ought to be worthwhile and affordableand because we want to give you every excuse to take a chance on one of our shows. Therefore we cannot stress enough that, in this case, cheap tickets do not equal cheap theatre.

Who I'd like to meet:
I want to meet you. I want to make you laugh, then strip
away everything you once thought you knew about yourself
and your world, leaving you exposed- just briefly- to the
raw truth of our existence, then make you laugh again, then
go drinking.
For business: I would like to meet a web designer to
replace my current webpage, an accountant to handle my money, and designers to make my shows look good.
