Le groupe ..FOULA ..est né à Bombay en 2002 lors de la rencontre entre l’auteur-compositeur ..Flo Comment.. et le joueur de tablas .. Sanket Athale.., à l’occasion de répétitions chez la légendaire Kishori Amonkar (l’une des plus grandes voix indiennes). Rejoints en 2003 par le flûtiste Guillaume Barraud, le trio joue son premier concert à Bombay pour Noël... ..Entre 2002 et 2006, la formation se retrouve chaque hiver à Bombay entre novembre et avril (saison musicale en Inde), pour travailler sur les compositions de Flo. Leur musique tendance "pop world", teintée d’instruments africains et indiens est accueillie avec enthousiasme par le public indien...Le groupe accueille un membre de plus, le talentueux bassisite réunionais, Johann Berby. ..Entre 2005 et 2007, Foula a effectué ces premiers concerts en France, suivie par une invitation de Manu Eveno (TRYO) pour le festival de Québec, le cabaret sauvage de Paris.. ....Les musiciens :.... ..Multi-instrumentiste, auteur, compositeur et leader du groupe, ..FLO COMMENT ..vit entre Paris et Bombay, où elle fut invitée une première fois par le maître flûtiste Hariprasad Chaurasia à participer au concert/évènement de l’an 2000 avec 15 des meilleurs musiciens indiens de la jeune génération. Déclic chez la musicienne, qui débute alors de longues études de chant classique hindustani avec Danashree Pandit-Rai, puis Tulika Ghosh, avec qui elle passe le Diplôme du Sanget Mahabharati Institute après 5 ans d'études. Elle étudie parallèlement avec la légendaire Kishori Amonkar...Aujourd'hui Flo Comment enseigne le chant classique hindustani à Paris et collabore à différents projets de musique du monde. ....SANKET ATHALE.. est un jeune musicien bombayïte. Pendant plusieurs années, il accompagne les "talims" et répétitions de Smt. Kishori Amonkar. Percussionniste curieux et versatile, il s’oriente rapidement vers d’autres styles (rock, world…). Sanket accompagne aujourd'hui le très populaire Kailas Kher et participe à de nombreux enregistrements de musiques de film à Bollywood... ....GUILLAUME BARRAUD ..est un jeune flûtiste français (disciple du légendaire Hariprasad Chaurasia). Il s'est dédié presque entièrement à la musique classique du nord de l'Inde durant six années à Bombay. Guillaume aujourd'hui installé à Paris: Il joue aussi la guimbarde carnatique, etc..... ..Enfin, ..JOHANN BERBY.. est un jeune musicien éclectique d’origine réunionnaise. Bassiste et contrebassiste, arrangeur, curieux de tout, il a joué et travaillé avec Vincent Ségal et autres grand musiciens. Johann joue actuellement dans le Trilok Gurtu Band et Les Tambours de Brazzaville... .. ....FOULA IN ENGLISH : When pop music marries with indian and african music ....... .. ..The band ..FOULA.. started in Mumbai in 2002 when Composer-songwriter Flo Comment and tabla player Sanket Naik meet for rehearsals at the legendary Kishori Amonkar’s (one of the biggest voice of India of the old generation)... .. ...... .. ..Between 2002 and 2006, the group meets every winter in Bombay between November and April (musical season in India), to work on Flo’s compositions. Their music, original “pop-world” tinted by African and Indian instruments is welcomed with enthusiasm by the Indian crowds. Between 2005 and 2007, Foula toured France and Québec for the first time... .. ....Members :.... ....Flo Comment.., Pop-song writer, musician and leader of the band, has been living between Paris and Bombay since 2000. At that time she was invited in Mumbai for the first time by the great flutist Hariprasad Chaurasia to participate at his huge concert of the 2000’s Millenium with 15 of the greatest Indian musician of the younger generation. Her music and songs, based on English pop is highly influenced by her African and Indian experiences... ..On stage,she has been playing with great artists like Hariprasad Chaurasia,Tulika Ghosh,Trilok Gurtu, A. Sivamani, Manu Eveno et Guizmo (TRYO)etc.... .. .. She has been studying Hindustani classical vocal with Tulika Ghosh, with whom she undertakakes the Diploma-Course of the Sanget Mahabharati Institute (created by Nikhil Ghosh), before being accepted by Kishori Amonkar as a student... .. ....Sanket Athale ..is a young bombaite musician. During several years, he accompanies Smt. Kishori Amonkar’s "talims" and rehearsals. Extremely talented percussionist, he quickly turns to other styles (rock, world.).Sanket participates in numerous recordings and programing for Bollywood movies, lately with the famous Kailas Kher. .. ....Guillaume Barraud ..is a young french flautist (disciple of Hariprasad Chaurasia). He has been on intensive training to Hindustani classical music for more than five years in Bombay, he played with many musicians in Bombay and in Europe. .. .. Last but not least,.. Johann Berby.. is a young eclectic musician from La Réunion Island who joined the band in 2005. Bass and double-bass player, he plays with many great musicians like Trilok Gurtu,Vincent Ségal, Les tambours de Brazza....His African feel and amazing groove were welcomed to enhance Foula’s magic world... ......
