About me:
MANIFESTO
le knit is an acting forum on the evolving word and world of craft.
Though craft is defined as a skill, it is less commonly associated with creativity or concept. Though various visual artists incorporate sewing, knitting, and quilting into sophisticated conceptual art, the niche of craft being the "second" art , a novelty, or "cute" is ironically all-too-common. le knit seeks to engage the pedestrian by challenging their familiar visual surroundings, and by engaging them hopes to introduce, if only for a moment, the talent and creativity fiber artists, crafters, and high artists working with alternative mediums from the past and the present.
le knit works in an anonymous guerrilla-like fashion so that our individual personalities do not deflect from our higher public agenda.
Our agenda is to:
* engage the past notions of craft while highlighting its artistic evolution.
* eschew the common visual perephreal
* elevate the consciousness and awareness of fiber-based mediums and concepts.
* engage the pedestrian in a refreshing and inspiring change of socioscope
* challenge the gender of "craft"
