Bio
CHECK OUT:.... http://www.dicklemair.net .... http://dicklemair.hyves.net .... I was born in The Hague,NL into a family where music was a big thing! My father was a church organist and I often sat next to him, high up in the back of the church, next to the keyboard of the organ, listening to him playing the Sunday liturgy. The piano was a dear object in our home and I started figuring out all sorts of music that I heard in church and from my fathers "pick up" (yeah, long ago, those days when we had nothing else than LP's…) and played all that stuff "by ear". So, it came to the point where my parents decided that I had to take piano lessons… After a while I found myself playing Mozart Sonata's and… being bored… Not because of the music, I still love the classics, but because of the way the lessons where given, so boring just reproducing the written music without any way out to creativity… So, I gave up. No music at all for about a year or two. And then, I discovered Rock 'n roll!! I started playing drums, took lessons from jazz drummers and orchestral percussionists, attended master classes. Finally I found myself studying drums/percussion and composition at the Rotterdam Conservatory..... I sort of specialized in performing the works of modern composers and soon found myself in studios and on stage all over the world recording and performing modern composed works. I toured in Europe, South America, Australia and Canada, was a guest teacher in Sidney (Australia), Caracas (Venezuela) and Odense (Denmark) and besides of that was active as a jazz drummer, working in Switzerland, Germany, France and (of course) Holland..... Over the last years I turned over to composing/arranging and producing more and more. I wrote and produced orchestral works in commission of Dutch and German broadcasting corporations and record companies, such as VPRO, EO, ERF (Radio, TV) and EMI, CNR, ARC, SONY (record companies) and some work that I composed in commission by a German dance group. I love making the most beautiful music in an anonymous situation, the writer and producer in the background..... In spite of me willing to be in the background EMI has released some solo work of mine. One is the album, "Over The Ages", music with Celtic, classical and Gregorian influences, and the other is "Impressions of a Pilgrimage", an album where I share my experiences as a pilgrim along the way to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. An album where not only my experiences as a pilgrim, but also the influences of all the musical styles I've been involved in over the last years come together. So I worked with a large group of string players, lots of woodwinds, incredible vocalists like Elly Nieman (Holland), Aoife Ni Fherraigh (Ireland), Intermezzo (Holland) and lots of percussion instruments, and, had the privilege to record the organ in the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela for the finale of this musical journey. Amazing, I ended up sitting high up in the church next to the keyboard of the organ again, this time listening to the organist who plays my composition in this wonderful Cathedral in Santiago..... Now the album has been issued in Germany by the publishing house Minerva Music in Cologne. Minerva Music released the CD on their label Melodia. I've had wonderful performances in the most different places, such as Rotterdam and Curaçao. I am looking forward to the concerts all over the world. .... Recently my album Impressions of a Pilgrimage has been released both on CD and MP3 in the USA: http://www.gragroup.com/DickLeMair.html -

Greetings,
Instead of vowing to honor and obey each other, we should swear to aid and abet each other.
Human physiology does not direct all of its own functions; it is interdependent. It must be steadied by the physical presence of another. This is necessary for both physical and emotional health. In many ways, humans cannot be stable on their own—they require another to survive.
If a man does not make new acquaintances as he advances through life, he will soon find himself alone. A man should keep his friendships in constant repair.
But whether it be dream or truth, to do well is what matters. If it be truth, for truth's sake. If not, then to gain friends for the time when we awaken.
--Pedro Calderon de la Barca
