"Quite possibly the most talented foursome ever to come out of Plymouth, Lemanis have, in the form of 'Shell', created a true musical masterpiece. A breathtaking 13 track affair, bursting with gems, this album really is something special. I was lucky enough to see the bands album launch party at The Hub, where they were backed by a 10 piece orchestra... one word - stunning! With a sound this big, great tunes and talent aplenty, Lemanis have the potential to make it huge!" - Fly Magazine
"a HUGE sound... It sounds great" - Seth Lakeman
"When Brian Wilson was searching for the right musos for his 'Smile' project, he could have borrowed Plymouth's Lemanis and got the job done in a week" - Backbone, 24/7 magazine
"Complex structure and fluctuating musical patterns that demand your absolute attention" - Ewan McKenzie, Whimsical Records
"The only two good things that have come out of Plymouth are Gin and Lemanis" - Ian Cooper, mastering engineer for Nick Cave, U2, Oasis, Kate Bush and lemanis...
"The English Polyphonic Spree" - Ray Rose, Eat Records
These names have been mentioned a few times..... The Beach Boys, Super Furry Animals, Polyphonic Spree, Teenage Fanclub, Pink Floyd, David Bowie. I dunno, have a listen.

Plymouth based 4-piece band Lemanis have spent the last couple of years in and out of the studio recording our first 2 albums, and assembling a large army of superb musicians to back us up both in the studio and on stage. The little orchestra we've found ourselves very proud to be involved with includes a string quartet and horn section, as well as flutes and a female backing singer. The first album, 'Shell', was released in 2007, followed by the new album called 'The Truth About a Push Me-Pull You' (2009). Tracks from both albums can be heard on the myspace player. Signing up to the Lemanis mailing list at www.lemanis.net will allow you to download free songs and hear rare tracks from the band, and you'll be kept up to date with live dates, give-aways, free/cheap gig entry and anything else we can do. Go to www.lemanis.net right now - you'll love it.

So, who are the people in the band?
Aside from the 4 core members of Phil Baker (bass/keys/guitar/vox), Nick Lemanis (vox/guitar), Adam Robinson (vox, guitar, bass) and Chris Sinclair (drums, vox, guitar), regulars include:
Trombonist Gaz Le Page, who was found in the orchestra pit of a theatre production playing trombone as we'd started looking for a horn section. Gaz is grade 8 trombone (and piano!) and is one whose stage antics are ones to watch out for. At the same play Gaz was tromboning for, the lead actor turned out to be a grade 8 cellist - Ben Roberts who's been with the band in studio and on stage since before the idea for the big band was formed. Our other cellist, Amy Hurley Dugdale can be seen with us more now on saxophone but plays both instruments in the studio - one very handy (and lovely) person to have around. Violin player Amie Willingale can play folk fiddle or string section pieces with equal ease - she's also a talented singer and guitarist. Singer Natalie Piper was found auditioning for the wrong band and was drafted into Lemanis the next day to sing and play melodica. Grade 8 Trumpeteer Steven Stones - frontman/guitarist in Plymouth band Arthur Walker - also provides some comedy onstage moments with and without the megaphone. Claire Graham plays oboe and has been known to do a bit of singing on Lemanis recordings and on stage.
There's currently a 6 Track album sampler around and about, if you want a copy send us an address and we'll mail you one out for free. Its 4 tracks from our first album, and two from the new album. Cheers all, see you at the next show :-)
