Thanks to James MacGregor and Michael Lovett for their vital part in this band during the making of 'Shell' and playing with us live at the first shows. Please check out their new projects Head of Programmes (James) and Taking Tiger Mountain (Michael). Extra special thanks to John Sidbotham for his time with the band making the 1st 2 albums
Also to everyone else who's played with us live and helped us out in the studio, and to PMC's legendary engineer Doc.
Everything we've ever heard and liked, not liked, loved, hated or been impartial to. How can that not be the way? And Richard Sharpe of the South Essex. He's got the right attitude.
Sounds Like
"Quite possibly the most talented foursome ever to come out of Plymouth, Lemanis have, in the form of 'Shell', created a true musical masterpiece. A breathtaking 13 track affair, bursting with gems, this album really is something special. I was lucky enough to see the bands album launch party at The Hub, where they were backed by a 10 piece orchestra... one word - stunning! With a sound this big, great tunes and talent aplenty, Lemanis have the potential to make it huge!" - Fly Magazine
"a HUGE sound... It sounds great" - Seth Lakeman
"When Brian Wilson was searching for the right musos for his 'Smile' project, he could have borrowed Plymouth's Lemanis and got the job done in a week" - Backbone, 24/7 magazine
"Complex structure and fluctuating musical patterns that demand your absolute attention" - Ewan McKenzie, Whimsical Records
"The only two good things that have come out of Plymouth are Gin and Lemanis" - Ian Cooper, mastering engineer for Nick Cave, U2, Oasis, Kate Bush and lemanis...
"The English Polyphonic Spree" - Ray Rose, Eat Records
These names have been mentioned a few times..... The Beach Boys, Super Furry Animals, Polyphonic Spree, Teenage Fanclub, Pink Floyd, David Bowie. I dunno, have a listen.
Plymouth based 4-piece band Lemanis have spent the last couple of years in and out of the studio recording our first album, and assembling a large army of superb musicians to back us up both in the studio and on stage. The little orchestra we've found ourselves very proud to be involved with includes a string quartet and horn section, as well as flutes and a female backing singer.
We have one 13 track album out called 'Shell' and another on the way, its being recorded as we speak. Tracks from both albums can be heard on the myspace player.
Click on the button above to buy "Shell" directly from us. As soon as we receive your order we'll post it out that day or the next, to anywhere in the world. If you're in the USA you might find it easier to click on the link to go to our CDBaby page to buy the album. CLICK HERE TO BUY THE ALBUM FROM CDBABY
All 4 members of the band are multi-instrumentalists and singers, so we all get to play and sing the bits we're best at. There's currently a 6 Track album sampler around and about, if you want a free copy send us an address and we'll mail you one out for free. Its 4 tracks from our first album, and two from the new album yet to be finished. The album is available now from us directly, or from http://cdbaby.com/cd/lemanis keep an eye right here about other places you can get it (so far: iTunes, cdbaby.com/cd/lemanis, various other digital download sites, gigs or mail us here). Cheers all, see you at the next show :-)

Ah, hello! Sorry we ran away from you! You can get the CD online though if you'd still like a copy. We're hoping to tour again in October so should be back in Plymouth in the not too distant future.
Just in case you thought it was amateur of you to get the crowd to sing Wind the Bobbin up during a technical hitch...the same thing happened at Brian Wilson and he got everyone singing Row the Boat ha.
