Introducing: a steampunk band for the twenty-first century.
We implore that you embrace inconvience. When society must bend 'round your steadfast chanciness or bow to your obstinance, the trauma bruises the straightened arteries of our streamlined monotony and reveals a jagged corruption - and the anomolous gesture reveals that life may yet hold variance, surprise, and, hence, interest. When you feel the imposition of system, create variance. The disruption of routine is the source of all adventure. An unwashed rogue is the talk of the town, and a brush with death is a day remembered.
Contemporary mechanical advancements deem them slipshod, but the image of absurd lumbering steam-vessels invigorates the spirit. The viability of the preposterous exudes the miraculous, and extravagance need not be a negative trait. Before the time of interchangeable parts, tinkering was an exercise in expression. Dreamships handymen contrived are now vehicles laborers assemble, but technology as whimsy can be re-explored once one embraces the impractical.
We humbly proposition you to join us on our musical adventures!
It will be understood that I do not erect science and liberty into fetishes to be generally adored: they are only sacred means to a more sacred end, namely, to enable men to practise and not merely to apprehend the truth, which in other words is goodness. Science and freedom are valuable only so far as they teach, persuade, and enable us to improve ourselves and others; to exercise every private and public virtue; to claim only what is due to ourselves, while making the needful sacrifice to the common good; to have a respect for humanity, and to venerate knowledge only so far as it is combined with virtue; to attempt in every way to alleviate the miseries of others, to deliver their minds from ignorance and error; to do right for its own sake without coveting rewards in heaven or on earth; to submit to no dictation but that of truth and goodness.
I'm hoping to see y'all next Friday, Oct.30, at Mansion 462 for the "Eccentrik Festival VI: The Mariner’s Revenge". Who's going to be playing as part of Lemming Malloy that night? (i.e. with Dylan having moved, etc.)
-Think I'm going to try scrounging up some steampunk-inspired clothing and make Halloween my excuse to wear it. Fun!!! We'll see...
