Influences
here are some of the names that i can feel their inspiration in our music
(is that what they mean by "influences"?)
from the west: the velvet underground, pink floyd, syd barret, kaleidoscope, the doors, nirvana, the smiths, the pixies.
from the east (i mean arabic): om kulthoom, fareed el-atrash, rachid taha, ziad ra7bani, sheekh imam.
A band lead by Nazareth-born Jowan Safadi (Jowan is also the son of a carpenter :). Lenzez (i.e. lenses) play alternative Hafla rock in Arabic and English. The themes of the songs vary from Jowan’s personal experience, and deal with various subjects: love and life as a couple, relationship between minorities and majority, Arabs and Jews in other words: the life of a Palestinian, citizen of Israel, nowadays.
Between the years 2001-2003 the band had released two studio albums: the first "Shortcuts" in English and the second, "ID", in Arabic.
The band was active in the indie scene till the end of 2007.
Jowan moved back to the north and continues with FANTASH,
and the other guys continue to live, i.e. make music, in Beer-Sheva.
The third and last LENZEZ album will soon be released for free download, so stay tuned.

thanks for getting back in touch. you guys are awesome---without a doubt one of the greatest modern bands and in our top ten favorites. it's deeply upsetting about the disgracefulness and greed of the US music/recording industry and the complete shame of the US government in creating the organization known as SoundExchange- that has the the legal right to collect royalties off of anyone (besides the actual original performer/artist) who broadcasts any audio whatsoever, and which does not carry a creative-commons license. So much for promotion! But then again do the major record labels want good bands like yours heard -that blow away the commercial crap on the radio or MTV? In a nutshell, I would describe this as corporate-nazism at the least. I was almost feeling like giving up before you messaged me...I still planned on getting the kiwiblog! music column going this Fall. It is important to support grassroots on both of our ends. [I'll private message you within the next couple days...how about a feature on the kiwiblog! with streamable tunes---we just can't do radio format or we'll get busted...
