About me:
The Flamingo Project’s main focus is on educating local residents about the benefits of recycling, starting in our elementary schools. We feel that teaching today’s children about the importance of the three R’s (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) will help build the more environmentally-conscious generations of tomorrow.
In order to make learning about recycling as fun and interactive as possible, we’ve enlisted the aid of “Phil the Flamingo” – a cartoon character designed especially for this program. We chose a flamingo because we feel the pink plastic flamingo represents a vital part of Leominster’s history and will become an icon that kids can associate with recycling – much like Smokey the Bear represents forest fire prevention.
Our company is a subsidiary of The Leominster Flamingo Company, who plans on bringing production of a newly designed pink plastic flamingo to Leominster. Since the Leominster Flamingo Company plans to make their product primarily from recycled plastic, The Flamingo Project aims to assist in any way we can.
As part of our program, we intend to make recycling more readily available to members of the community through more convenient sorting methods, enhanced pick-up schedules, and additional drop-off locations.
