We have a demo package that can be sent to you as well ..My Acoustic Trio 'The Olliebollen ' is the sister band of The Lab Rats with Martin Eade on Snare and hat and James Illico on stand up Bass. The Lab Rats are a Blues Quartet located in Vancouver , BC. Fronted by the infamous : Huggybear Leonard... Harmonica , Ukulele and Vocals .. We play Electric Chicago style Blues and Country Blues as well. We vary from electric to acoustic... We do a few non-blues numbers, instrumentals and some originals as well. We do 'The Work Song' (In the style of Paul Butterfield) , 'Mellow Peaches' ( Big Joe Williams ), 'Big Railroad Blues' ( Noah Lewis) , Spiderman (Gary William Friedman) who was part of the The Electric Company which became a great success. ...We do a few Jazz standards as well with Blue leading the pack of Rats ..We're not any different than anyone else carrying on a tradition. . The Blues is a Transformational Music , raw , real and everchanging within it's surroundings and individiuality.
A lot of Rock bands that I listened to were Blues based bands. Harmonica is my instrument of choice I discovered it partly through disabilities . The sound of harmonica was something I could not ignore . I felt there was no other instrument that sounded like it and you could play it anywhere and you can be so sneaky with it ...Suddenly this guy plays harmonica !!! People don't expect it .. They get surprised and I dig that . . No wonder it was used during wars..It has such a peaceful sound ! The free reed was invented by The Chinese way before you were born around 3000 bc.(see Cheng -Pronounced 'Shun' ) - Chinese harmonica . The Germans made it more aero-dynamic putting the harmonica as we know it in the for front of Folk instruments.. Black field workers and early Blues musicians re-invented the way the harmonica was played incorporating it into a key instrument in Blues with the most expressive sounds ...Those early Field workers we're the true Blues harp pioneers yelling and cursing the work horses in metaphor to their owners. So I will get back soon ! Enjoy and remember if you want to get rich buy Real Estate don't play the Blues.
