Nato a Taranto, ha studiato con V. Calamita e M. Cellaro, diplomandosi al Conservatorio di Monopoli (BA). Successivamente si è perfezionato con Franco Petracchi, ottenendo il Diploma di Merito dell'Accademia Chigiana di Siena. Ha seguito corsi di perfezionamento anche con M.Giorgi, Y.Goilav, J.M.Rollez e L.Streicher.
Premiato in diversi concorsi nazionali, ha al suo attivo un’intensa attività concertistica sia in formazione di duo con pianoforte che come solista con orchestra, esibendosi anche in Francia, Svizzera e Germania. In tale veste ha suonato fra l’altro con i Solisti Aquilani, l’Orchestra da Camera Fiorentina, l’Orchestra Sinfonica Provinciale di Bari e l’Orchestra della Magna Grecia. Particolari apprezzamenti hanno riscosso le sue interpretazioni del Concerto di Koussevitzky, del Divertimento Concertante di Nino Rota e di numerose pagine del repertorio bottesiniano, occasionalmente affiancandosi a solisti di chiara fama come Franco Maggio Ormezowsky, Vincenzo Mariozzi e lo stesso Petracchi. Assieme a Michele Cellaro ha inoltre eseguito, in prima esecuzione moderna, l'integrale delle composizioni per due contrabbassi e pianoforte di Giovanni Bottesini. Nel 2007, nella doppia veste di solista e compositore, esegue in prima assoluta “Cross over Bass”, un Concerto per contrabbasso e orchestra in stile eclettico, che riscuote entusiastici consensi di pubblico e di critica.
Ha collaborato con diverse formazioni cameristiche ed orchestrali, fra cui il quartetto di contrabbassi "Bass Sonority", l'Orchestra del Teatro Petruzzelli di Bari, l'Orchestra del Teatro "V.Bellini" di Catania, l'Internazionale d'Italia, la Filarmonica della Scala e l'Orchestra da Camera Italiana (quest’ultima sotto la direzione di Salvatore Accardo), con le quali si è esibito nelle principali città italiane ed ha effettuato numerose tournèe all'estero: Spagna, Francia, Germania, Turchia, Albania, Siria, Egitto, Emirati Arabi, Russia, Australia, Cuba, Messico, Asia e Sud America. Dal 1993 è primo contrabbasso dell'Orchestra della Magna Grecia.
E’ autore di varie trascrizioni ed arrangiamenti per archi, nonchè per il proprio strumento.
Docente di Contrabbasso al Conservatorio "Tito Schipa" di Lecce, ha pubblicato un volume di "Esercizi su Scale e Arpeggi" per le Edizioni musicali Pizzicato.

LEONARDO PRESICCI, born in Taranto (Italy), began his studies of double bass with V.Calamita and M.Cellaro, and got his diploma at the Conservatory of Monopoli (Bari). Then he studied under Franco Petracchi, obtaining a scholarship by the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena. Besides, he attended courses with M.Giorgi, Y.Goilav, J.M.Rollez and L.Streicher.
Winner of various national competitions, he has a considerable concert activity to his credit, both in duo with piano and above all as a soloist with orchestra, performing also in France, Switzerland and Germany. His interpretations of the Koussevitzky’s Concert, the Rota’s Divertimento Concertante and of several pages from the Bottesini’s repertoire - sometimes playing with famous Italian soloists, such as Franco Maggio Ormezowsky, Vincenzo Mariozzi and Petracchi himself - were highly appreciated. Together with Michele Cellaro he played, in first modern execution, the complete works for two double basses and piano by Bottesini. In 2007 Presicci has premiered, both as soloist and composer, “Cross over Bass”, that is a Concert for double bass and orchestra in eclectic style, thereby receiving enthusiastic praise by public and critics.
He worked with several chamber and orchestral groups, among which: the Bass Quartet “Bass Sonority”, the Teatro Petruzzelli Orchestra of Bari, the Teatro Bellini Orchestra of Catania, the International Orchestra of Italy, the Scala Philarmonic Orchestra of Milan and the Italian Chamber Orchestra conducted by Salvatore Accardo, playing in the main Italian towns and around the world: Spain, France, Germany, Albania, Turkey, Syria, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Russia, Australia, Cuba, Mexico, Asia and South America. Since 1993 he has been principal bassist of the “Magna Grecia” Orchestra of Taranto.
Presicci is also author of transcriptions and arrangements for strings and for his own instrument. He is Double bass teacher at the Conservatory “Tito Schipa” in Lecce.
