CHRIS PICKERING - A little bit of Ryan Adams, Rufus Wainwright and Gram Parsons - all shook up! With enchanting melodies, insightful lyrics and a fresh-eyed handsomeness, award-winning musician Chris Pickering is redefining the Alt.Country and Americana genre.
Since releasing his debut EP Hard to Find in 2004 and the follow-up album A Safer Place (2005), he’s been winning over audiences throughout the country (and the U.S.A) with his distinctive sound that combines soaring melodies with lyrics that paint vivid pictures of life in – and out – of the country.
In 2006, CP released his next EP, Ghost City. Produced by ARIA Award-winning legend Magoo, Ghost City earned CP a swag of rave reviews. The accolades continued in 2006 when he won his first QSong songwriting award for ‘Better Off’ (from A Safer Place LP).
CP’s reputation as a musician on the rise was cemented in August 2007, when he secured his second QSong award for ‘The Humming Song’.
In 2008 he performed a showcase and other gigs at SxSW in Austin, TX, with more shows (and some co-writing) in Nashville, TN.
CP returned to Tennessee in July 2008 for more gigs and writing sessions with Nashville luminaries, and headlined a well-received show in Memphis. He was also a finalist in three categories of the 2008 QSong Awards and a semi finalist in the UK Songwriting Awards. After showcasing at the North American Folk Alliance in Memphis in February 2009 CP has relocated to Nashville for most of the year to concentrate on performing, writing and recording.
2009 will see CP showcasing at the International Folk Alliance in Memphis, and relocating to Nashville for most of the year to concentrate on writing, performing and recording.
In April 2009 CP played the famous VIPER ROOM in Los Angeles in April, as a showcase artist of MusExpo 2009.

Smiling Reign
14 October 2009
The world is round
The rain comes but once a week
The globe where we all live,
In our blue skies above
Looking for what we all do want,
The spirit of peace and love
Wanting that baby in our arms to hold
Watching a friendship grow
From birth to days of old
As the tears roll down
When all is not good
And we smile when
The sun does come again
Seeking angels,
In pastures of green,
Weeping children, And,
Hunger pains to cry
We look to God,
In prayers of forgiveness
In asking ourselves, why
The world is round
This globe where we all live,
Under blue skies of grey cloud
We fight wars, and we fight to be proud
We feed the hungry, we defend the poor,
Then we look to the heavens,
And ask for more
Wanting that baby in our arms to hold,
Not wishing for a babies tears to cry
As the tears roll down
When all is not good
And we smile when
The sun does come again
Seeking angels,
In pastures of green,
Weeping children, And,
Hunger pains to cry
We look to God,
In prayers of forgiveness
In asking ourselves, why
As the tears roll down
When all is not good
And we smile when
The sun does come again
The world is round
This globe where we all live
We feed the hungry, we defend the poor,
Then we look to the heavens,
And ask for more
As the tears roll down
When all is not good
And we smile when
The sun does come again
We smile, when we know
Tomorrow will reign
