Magnetic transference to cosmos inter sanctum, deep way deep inside the
bong. Almost like using yr illusion only on a soggy, London, November
morning. Taking a deep whiff, laser weeping wasted deluded delicate flower.
Rather wake and drop out then wake the waking. Eat up. - Ezekiel Blackouts

Reviews:
Can and Spacemen 3 have all had their fair share of imitators. Winter Drones (Leon J. Dufficy) pack on the repetition and reverberated fog with the best of them, but the result here takes you to another world as guitars become an outrageous pitch-bending circus during the final chapter. Fans of Deerhunter will probably dig this too.

Since Salem officially closed down Summer '09 with their anti-beach jam Frost, a chill has spread throughout the internets. Luke Jarvis, the lascivious young fellow behind the sordid Sexbeat record-and-party machine has teamed up with some dudes from Hush Arbors to create a band whose name helpfully explains the type of jams you will be listening to and the optimum season required to appreciate said jams. Their rad debut album, Blood In The Coffin, is out soon and look, they write songs about Kevin Arnold's girl's skeleton. Awesome.

We first heard Winter Drones - the current project of Leon J. Dufficy, right hand man of Ecstatic Peace hippie Hush Arbors and boss guitarist in his own right - when they appeared on London indie label Sexbeat's compilation CD. We reviewed the track at the time and said it was the best thing on there, so we were pretty excited when we heard there was an LP coming out on the label.
Time to get more excited: the album is called Blood In The Coffin, and it's ready to pre-order now from Sexbeat. It sounds great so far: swooning drone-pop that should appeal to fans of Spacemen 3, Deerhunter and Xinlisupreme alike. And really now, who doesn't like the sound of that? It's got artwork from Mountain Girl, and you can download the album's opening track exclusively here.
Oh, and don't forget: Sexbeat are taking over the Old Blue Last, Shoreditch this Saturday with Nottingham punk fold-outs Lovvers, Teen Sheiks and Demons. Entry is a fiver and you're literally guaranteed a good time.

How fucking awesome was The Wonder Years? Like, as far as TV shows go it had everything you could want, including a rumor that the gawky kid with glasses was actually Marilyn Manson. We mention this because Winter Drones have a song called “Winnie Cooper’s Bones” (referring to the main character’s love interest, in case you forgot) that balances Bob Dylan-esque uptalk with layers of dense guitar. We can’t quite make out the lyrics, so we’re just going to assume that it’s about how it’s a borderline travesty that The Wonder Years is still not out on DVD and move on. Equally as good/heavy is “Two Long Weeks Part 2,” which comes off like a palate cleanser after all that guitar fog, but it’s a little sharper, a little more biting. Winter Drones’ Blood in the Coffin is out soon.

Undoubtably though the standout track, due to length as much as anything else, is ‘Stiff Wizard’ by Winter Drones which takes the blueprint laid out by Stereolab and Spacemen 3, beefs it up, devours it and then shits it out through the speakers over ten glorious minutes.
The longest thing on Sexbeat's recent compilation, and the one that's getting the most play from me. Turns out this is the work of, amongst others, Leon Dufficy who is in Hush Arbors' current band, and their myspace contains five more songs that pretty much confirm them as better than anything else you listened to today.
