Daniel,
Thanks for the music. Very White Stripesesque! (It's like the Strokes
mixed with Dylan) It aint no surprise that I loved it, rock, country,
blues, and a little punkish. Classic garage band sound!.
Loved the lyrics. I chair danced the entire 6 songs.
I hope the Leopold gang had a great time in Flagstaff. Good luck on your tour!
Even the nerdy scientists and accordionists love your music. "The
important thing is not to achieve, but to strive." (Aldo Leopold - The
Sand County Almanac).

Yeah Boy, Aint It Good To Know
“There’s something odd about the air when Leopold and his Fiction occupies its space, it’s fresh but still smells like something that’s been sitting on your daddy’s record shelf in an uncovered beat up slip cover… Together they provide a fairly accurate depiction of where modern rock might be headed; second-generation Strokes fans desperately seeking the importance of .38 Special; which isn’t really a bad place to be.”
--Chris De Line, Culture Bully
....
“Fast and loose is the vibe here. The boys in Leopold and His Fiction…pull no tricks and give it to us straight…(James)'s guitar play is raw and alive.”
-The Owl Mag
good music, +++
"Leopold and His Fiction—aside from having a cool name—are pretty damn good. They have their White Stripes-y vocal arrangements, their indierock strumming, and a few guitar riffs that wouldn't be out of place on a Lynyrd Skynyrd album. They do more than inspire the lame name-dropping of other bands, however—namely, they'll make you nod your head and tap your toes. EH" -Portland Mercury

Leopold and his Fiction is the balanced reincarnate of a sultry era of Western darkness underneath big city lights and country back roads leading to the morning shore of a transpiring musical horizon. The honest and transcendent San Francisco Rock ‘n' Roll band escalating into the west coast music scene, Leopold and his Fiction acquires a moody-pop frame derived from distant genres and unwavering imagination in an attempt to reinvent what each member feels has dissipated from the greater measure of music.
Leopold provides Detroit filth and guitar orientation breathing parallel with rasped vocals soaring to a grave reflection. Of the trio's American bicoastal familiarity and British influence, Daniel, along with the recent addition of bassist Micayla Grace, and drummer Jon contribute to a very diverse sound through personal interests.
Together Leopold and his Fiction offers a morbid cohesion of California and a gentle open plains reminiscence stimulating a reason and energy for people to listen closely. A new vision in music and thought offers an alternate take to the repetition of a-sides with their own traditional sounds and elaborations.

Leopold And His Fiction Wins Sonicbids
Mar 28, 2008
Story by: Lora Kolodny
Leopold And His Fiction play dirty. But they won this week's CMJ Sonicbids Spotlight fair and square. The California (by way of Michigan and Kentucky) band cranks the kind of gritty, blues-infused, guitar rock that follows stylistically, and alphabetically, in a jukebox lineup including: the Black Keys, the Cult and Kings Of Leon.

This is fact, not fiction: Leopold and His Fiction takes you back in the day to the band's roots in Detroit and Kentucky all within a matter of minutes. Putting a contemporary edge to their solid Stones foundation and adding licks so blue they make the sky look boring, these SF indies get it done Two Gallants-meets-Hendrix style.

the story of Leopold and His Fiction... from San Francisco whose overt brand of bluesy, Detroitsy, countryish (often all at the same time) rock n' roll draws all too obvious comparisons to The Black Keys and The White Stripes. Nonetheless, their self-titled debut has to be the truest rock n' roll offering of the year. While others have strayed from the formula, Leopold have stuck to the basics and carved out a unique sound headlined by Dan's rangy vocals. From the heavily sedated and lethargic remembrances of "Miss Manipulation" to the throat itching nagging of the albums opening track, "She Ain't Got Time," Dan and his voice immediately sets his band apart from other such imitators. But the band realizes its brilliance on tracks like "Be Still" and "Go on Have My Way" and even the jumpy reworking of Johnny Cash's "Understand Your Man." Thirteen songs about girls, broken hearts, broken lives, broken homes, relationships, braggadocio, broken down blues (or any other sort of blues for that matter), and everything else rock n' roll used to be about. Rarely has a band tapped into its roots and borrowed so successfully from their predecessors. While remaining focused, the album displays Leopold's impressive palate of musical influences and highlights the fact that these lads have more than enough talent and direction to transform their tastes into their own sound. Add the fact that there is some awful mean songwriting going on all over the album (let it be said that these guys aren't just rockers, their musicians as well!) As a result, Leopold and His Fiction is a band whose sound comfortably finds itself right at home in Memphis, Detroit, the Mississippi Delta, Fisherman's Wharf, in my CD player, and soon enough in yours. So, no matter where you live get comfortable with them because they are already comfortable with you. - Davidwatts
If you like these bands then you need to buy this album: Johnny Cash, The Black Keys, The White Stripes, The Dirtbombs, Kings of Leon, The Strokes, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Rolling Stones, The Animals, Archie Bronson Outfit, Catfish Haven, Robert Johnson, Sonny Boy Williamson, Muddy Waters, you get the point?
