His first film CABEZA DE MONO / MONKY HEAD (2001) was nominated to the 23rd Habana Film Festival (Cuba), 2002 OFFF Fest (Spain), 2003 Bit Film Festival (Germany) and won several awards in Colombia like Equinoxio, Sin Formato and the International Macromedia User Group Prize. His next film EL AMOR ES UNA BALA EN EL CORAZON / LOVE IS A BULLET IN THE HEART (2002) was finalist in 2002 NotodoFilmFest (Spain), juries: ALEJANDRO AMENABAR and BIGAS LUNA. Nominated to 7th Seul International Cartoon and Animation Festival (Korea), Stuttgart 2004 (Germany), 2003 Bit Film Festival and 13 Philadelphia Film Festival (USA). WENDIDALI (2003), his third film, was nominated to 2003 Sundance Film Festival (USA), Animamundi 2003 (Brazil), 2003 OFFF Fest, 25 Habana Film Festival and was special screened at NotodoFilmFest 2004. In 2004 all his works to date were screened at XVI Rencontres Cinemas d’Amrique Latine de Toulouse (France). In 2005 he makes his first music video: RELAX YOURSELF for the Canadian band 2REVOLUXION. RELAX YOURSELF was official selection at Annecy 2006 (France), 2005 Bitfilm Festival, 2005 Montreal Short Film Festival (Canada) and VAD 2005 (Spain). It follows SONORAMA’s NO SE ME PONGA PICAO (2006) and MOMPOSONICA’s SEXO ELEVADO (2007), music videos nominated in several festivals. In 2006, DIEGO MAURICIO ALVAREZ was selected to participate in the prestigious Berlinale Talent Campus (Germany) where him took classes with WIM WENDERS, CHAN WOOK-PARK and MICHEL GONDRY among others. THE BUTCHER AND THE WOLF (2008), his forth film, wins the 2008 Portable Film Festival (Australia) and was one of the 24 videos selected by WES CRAVEN to his anthology: Happy Halloween Wes Craven’s Best Halloween Videos on Youtube 2008. In 2008 his screenplay LAS AVENTURAS DE ANA POMBO / THE ADVENTURES OF ANA POMBO was awarded by the Cultural Ministry of Colombia. LA ULTIMA PELEA DEL HOBRE / THE LAS FIGHT OF THE MAN Redux (2009), his last work to date, was selected to the 24th Mar del Plata International Film Festival and Hiroshima.
