_________ Allright, heres a rant. I used to be in a band called the medics. The Medics were approached by 2 island records execs, Eric Speck, and Rob Stevenson. At the beginning they flat out told me to fire my band and they would give me a bunch of random people and a fat contract. I turned the offer down and made a couple more demos with the group to show them that the band was cool. The 2 execs then told me that my band looked too young and i wasn't cynical enough and declined. Due to half ass-ing college, I started to drink whiskey in the morning and put amphetamines up my nose at all hours of the day. I rapidly ended up stuck in St. Vincent's 3rd north psychiatric ward in Westchester for 3 days. After i got out, the medics played a show with Hellogoodbye, RX Bandits, and Envy on the cost (what the flying fuck!?!?!?) and the medics rapidly broke up after. I then decided that i needed a band that had balls. i needed a band with two drummers and that could be adorable and visceral all in one shot. I started Le Rug and with the help of the almighty Joe Ahearn (www.sleepwhendeadnyc.com) we were soon playing all the crazy D.I.Y shows in the city that your mom was allways scared you would get raped or try pot at. We have 2 records out, one (bleenex) is widely available (right on top of this page or on itunes) and the other one (C.R.E.E.P.) is an e.p so legit that i dont even have any copies of it anymore, consider it a worth nothing collectable (it is available on the internet, see blog). there you have it. The Mighty Le Rug.
__________________________________________________________________________ "Passion and aggression. They are two traits I seek out from bands, but they are also two of the tougher traits to ascribe to a band. Obviously if you make music you should have some sort of passion for it, it doesn't take much just a desperate feeling that you need to make music. Aggression, well it's pretty simple too don't you think, a little bit of rage, a healthy dose of anger, and a sped up tempo should just about set you on your course to getting aggression notched under your belt. But for whatever reason there are a lot of bands these days that just don't get these two important aspects in the music they are making, Le Rug is not one of those bands. Instead, this Brooklyn band is showing passion and aggression with each note of each song. The music is furious in it's delivery and it's approach, and the band truly wears it's hard on its sleeve. When passion and aggression are combined like they are all over Le Rug's music it's a beautiful thing. Take a listen, see what I mean. It's undeniable." -Pop Tarts Suck Toasted (Band of the Week!!!)

I forgot to tell you though, that the show at Pianos isn't going on. I was arguing with some asshole for a few days trying to get it to at least be 18+ if not all ages and he wouldn't have it. But I'll let you know how this Sirenfest thing works out.
The new issue of Music Street Journal is live and you are featured in the issue. Stop by and check the issue out at musicstreetjournal. com. The coverage is free of charge, but we ask that since we promote you on our dime (the site costs quite a bit to run), perhaps you’d consider helping us pay our bills. You can do that by buying a membership ($6 for a month to $25 for a year), buying a banner ad ($65 for a year and you get a membership for free), make a donation (there are buttons for $1, 2 and 3), buy a sponsorship (contact me for information – but it includes banner and membership packages at a discount), suggest that your fans get a membership, or do several of those things. You can do any of those things by using the “click to register” link right next to the log in box on the main page of the site. Whether you feel the urge to contribute or not, we hope you enjoy the new issue. The countdown to the extinction of Music Street Journal has begun, though. Unless the site starts to pay its way by the December issue our February issue will be the last one we do.
