Les Gendarmes du Swing is a unique string jazz ensemble specializing in gypsy swing. Although clearly inspired by virtuoso musicians Django Reinhardt, Stephane Grappelli and the Quintette of the Hot Club of France, Les Gendarmes du Swing draws inspiration from a broad range of influences. These influences include other swing musicians such as Oscar Aleman, Benny Goodman, and Duke Ellington, classic jazz musicians, traditional gypsy music, traditional Brazillian choro music, and even more unexpected sources like classic rock and punk rock. The bands repertoire reflects these influences by incorporating creative interpretations of classic Django tunes, classic swing tunes, traditional music from across the globe, and original music. Such broad influences as well as the bands inventive (and sometimes irreverent) spirit combine to make Les Gendarmes du Swing an exciting, high-energy live music experience.
