Round the night grasses
where badgers sip dew,
I cut my heart open
on a badger like you.

"Los Angeles-based Leslie & the Badgers make the exact style of country music you wish Jenny Lewis had when she dabbled her feet in the country waters. No offense to her Rabbit Fur Coat, which is fine, but damn if Leslie & the Badgers don't put her to shame. The Badgers generously use the weepiest pedal steel, have sweetly mournful tear-in-your-beer lyrics, and singer Leslie Stevens holds it all together with incredible delivery and even more impressive pipes. Unfortunately No Depression just called it quits, because if there ever was a band that magazine was going to break, this is it."
ROB SIMONSEN, The Portland Mercury

Leslie and The Badgers "Greetings From"
"There are words the dead say
and words the dead sing,
and my life will be through
fore they mean anything."-Leslie and The Badgers c. 1972
We are Leslie and the Badgers and we formed in Los Angeles in March of 2006. Our arrangements consist of two guitars, vocals bass, drums, and most recently violin. Comparisons have been drawn (possibly in error) to EmmyLou Harris, Lucinda Williams, Rilo Kiley's Jenny Lewis. SOLD OUT Our first album sold out but we took five of the tracks from this album and made them available as an EP called "Greetings From" on itunes.
Our EP "Greetings From" is available on . There is also a snocap store here on our page.
just wanted to say how great i thought teh spaceland show was. you should always play to a full house--you really seemed to feed off the audience and they from you. it was the best set i have seen you play--that may be as a result of what it was with the full room and the cd release you came thru with the set i hoped for and trust you hoped for also. the only thing missing from my fantasy would have been horn players on Silly--can't have evrything, but i can always dream. you seems to make dreams come true more often than not. thanks again--now a request--how about a post of the lyrics the songs deserve it--they are that good
"It's Okay to Trip" is an instant classic. After our first listen, our two-year-old, Claire, clapped, cheered "Yay!", and asked, "Again?" Must listen again now . . .
This morning I wrote, of Janis Joplin, "She was a real person, who made real music, in a field of falsity." Then I realised that applied to Leslie too. Tonight and tomorrow, San Francisco!
I have photos of the Tractor Tavern show in Seattle at http://www.flickr.com/photos/heyheyjk/sets/72157619620022348/ if anyone wants to check them out. It was a great show!
Congrats on your summer tour!!! Its so great you are all getting out there, (away in eastern states). I'm bummed I couldn't make it to your S.F. show, but maybe I can make a trip down south and see you in your hometown! Best of luck, love the record.
I'm so glad the tour is going well Badgers - I LOVE the sound of the Tractor Tavern!! Great name...and by the sounds of it, great gig!!! Greetings from Scotland X
