Leslie Combemale, jazz vocalist, now member of Ritual Echo--all songs on this site are written as part of Ritual Echo.
Influences
Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Annie Lennox, Cat Stevens, Kate Bush, Air, Gabriel-era Genesis, Roxy Music, Edith Piaf, Led Zeppelin, Bjork, Radiohead, Underworld, Erykah Badu, Tom Waits, lots of newer artists but we've all been influenced by the older bands, so saying maxwell is saying luther, al green, isley brothers, maze etc.
Sounds Like
A Confessionalist Kate Bush Carnival, Rufus + Martha Wainwright + air + sarah mclachlan?
(all on a great day)
Leslie lives in the Washington, D.C., area, but grew up in France and Italy. After hearing Sarah Vaughan at age six, she fell in love with jazz. She was trained as a jazz vocalist, working with Ellis Marsalis while at Virginia Commonwealth University, where she also studied poetry, writing, and art history. Leslie studied acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, England, but prefers to spend her time onstage singing. She is co-owner of ArtInsights, an animation and film art gallery in Reston Town Center, Virginia, and an international expert on vintage Disney animation art. She is a member of the group Ritual Echo.

Thank you for being our friend! We love your style! We hope you are well. : )
Our song 'Winterplace' has received some special attention lately—having been included in a US national compilation CD promoting California Tan suntan lotion (interesting?), is included in the feature film Peculiarities which is currently on the film festival circuit, and is receiving airplay on Salt Lake City's X-96. Anyhow, we thought we would make this special edition release of Liberation available to our mySpace friends for a special price—$8.00 US. It has some bonus tracks and new artwork, and once the pressing of 100 is gone—it's gone! Visit summerhead.com for more details.

Dear Leslie, thank you so much for your request. Your songs are really great. INVISIBLE sounds like a Kate Bush unreleased track! You have great influences and a great talent.
