Less People More Robots is Laura Duzett (vocals) Rusty Monson (Bass) Matt Crane (Guitar) Dave Walker (Guitar) Ben Gerhards (Drums) LPMR has not always had this line up. It started when Matt wanted to do a side project from his current band affectionately called Less People More Robots. (Yes, it is the same name… but at the time it was an instrumental rock band) At first the side project was just Matt and a drummer, the idea was just to goof around… Nothing serious. Until Matt and Rusty met through a local band forum of which Matt had a classified ad wanting a bass player. Rusty had wanted to get back into music, after a 9-year hiatus, and responded to the ad. The 3 started playing songs Matt had wrote. After a few members came and went, then the band was down to Rusty and Matt. Rusty had been courting Laura Duzett to sing for the band even though Rusty had never heard her sing before. He lent her a Pretty Girls Make Graves CD and said if she liked it, to call him. She returned the CD to his doorstep, with some homemade cookies and a note saying she was down… in a few months Laura was singing for the band. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Dave Walker and Rusty had been trying to form a solid band for years… It just never panned out. Until LPMR need a second Guitarist… Rusty immediately called Dave. The only problem left was to get a new drummer and it seems nearly impossible to get good drummers in Salt Lake. Rusty got a delivery job and his boss, Robbi, played drums. Robbi, whom is a veteran drummer from Seattle and Salt Lake City’s hardcore scene… Wanted to join LPMR for a change of pace. After Robbi joined, the band needed a name. Matt’s former band “Less People More Robots” never got off the ground, and the band liked the name so much… They adopted it. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
The band hit it off well, musically… even though everyone in the band has a completely different taste in music. After only 4 months of being a band they went into the studio to record a 6-song demo. Since then the band has had a fast growing fan base, has gotten lots of attention locally and all over the States, and just won City Weekly’s Slammy award for Best New Band. THEN we lost Robbie on Drums and we will never quit be the same we wish him all the luck in the world.... And after a long rest Less People is back practicing and writting new material.
