Lester Jay began his professional music career in 2000 (although singing since the age of 5 in various church choirs and gospel groups), performing in such venues as The Maywood Sound Stage, Olive Harvey College, The UniverSoul Circus, The Premier Entertainment Center, The Taste of Entertainment, and various talent and open mic shows and venue areas in the city of Chicago and has also made television appearances on Channel 19 and FOX.
Along with extensive vocal and acting training, Lester was able to create his signature sound and stage performance. After a brief affiliation with a local hip hop label in 2002 (Il Entertainment), Lester left the label with their top producer, Marcus Mister a.k.a. Mr. Mister and created a 6 track demo/ep that landed him with a management opportunity with New Art Entertainment.
In the summer of 2006, Lester joined forces with what was labeled as “Columbia’s All-Stars” in Blues (under the direction of Fernando Jones) and formed the Down and Dirty Blues Band. With the band he was able to perform in such venues as Kingston Mines, Buddy Guys, Lee’s Unleaded Blues Club, The Checkerboard Lounge, and COUNTLESS house parties, special events including an all expense paid performance in Forrest City, Arkansas.
Lester is currently finishing up his degree at Columbia College in Vocal Performance, and Music Management with a minor in Acting finishing a long awaited solo compilation, and actively performing with a blues/funk band.

Tom Joyner wants this information to reach his listeners.. You have probably heard of 'NUD' as a result of the Tom Joyner morning show related to Comp USA . NUD (Non Urban Dictate) is the acronym for a very subtle and litt le-known marketing term specifically directed toward people of color.
'Non Urban Dictate' These three words essentially mean that a company is not interested in the Black consumer. A NUD label means that a company does not want their marketing and advertising materials placed in media that claim an urban audience (black folks) as their main target. There are legitimate reasons for companies not using urban radio. It may be that Blacks don't index high in certain categories or that a company's strategy is to market to the Black consumer down the road after they have established a strong position in their primary target. But, NUD usually means that a company is not interested in the Black consumer. Companies evade discrimination liability by embracing it as theory rather than policy. As a service to Black consumers, the Urban Institute will list all companies that have a NUD policy. Armed with this information, we feel that Black consumers will be able to make informed buying decisions.
Here's a list of Companies with NUD policies:
