‘After the trauma of fire, together with music, we can heal, rebuild and prosper.’
'Lest We Forget' is the powerful and uplifting song inspired by the devastating Victorian bushfires of Black Saturday. Featuring students of the fire ravaged Primary Schools in Strathewen, Middle Kinglake and Marysville, this recording has been put together under extraordinary circumstances, delivering a very special message of hope and healing to resonate throughout the world.
Children are amazing. They are resilient. They are survivors. Their story lives in ‘Lest We Forget’. This song is a part of their active recovery.
Written by Melbourne singer/songwriter Cam Tapp for a free Festival staged close to the fire effected communities called ‘A Day Of Healing’, Lest We Forgat ended the day as the grand finale sung by the children, Cam and Kate Ceberano. The performance was electric and moved the audience to tears.
‘The opportunity for our children to be a part of this song on this level has been incredible for them. It has also been incredible for us to see. This is an experience they will cherish for the rest of their lives. So many aspects of their recovery has seen them on the receiving end, and people have been very grateful, but this has given the children an opportunity to give something back. Their involvement in ‘Lest We Forget’ has been very powerful. This is their song.’ - Catherine James – Music Coordinator, Middle Kinglake Primary School.
All people involved in the songs development, recording, duplication and performance have provided their services for free. All proceeds from sales of this song will go directly back to the three primary schools.
Lest We Forget is set for release on May 8th 2009 through BNM Records.
Thank you to all involved.
