Letron Brantley grew up in Marion SC where he was involved with music at an early age. Getting his start in the Junior High band, Letron has been playing jazz since the age of 12. Playing the Alto, Soprano and Tenor Sax, as well as flute, he studied music at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC. While in the Rock Hill-Charlotte (NC) area, he performed with various groups including the funk band Chronic (1996-1998) and the jazz quartet 'Off Minor' (1998-2000), and has also played events with the Charlotte Jazz Society, The Jazz Disciples, and A Sign Of the Times Big Band with Tyrone Jefferson. He currently plays and tours his own band.
During his musical career, Letron has had the opportunity to perform with great musicians such as Bob Mitzer, Marvin Stamm, Ed Soph, and Lenny Picket. Letron continues to be an in demand saxophonist and can be heard on several jazz and gospel recording projects. Letron also attends jazz workshops on a regular basis and is a proud member of IAJE (International Association of Jazz Educators).
Letron's equipment includes: Yamaha Custom Z Alto with Ponzol Metal Mouthpiece, L.A. Sax Tenor with Metal Ponzol Metal Mouthpiece, Selmer La Voix Soprano with Otto Link Mouthpiece, and a Gemeinhardt solid silver open hole flute.
Letron holds a B.S. Degree in Computer Information Systems and is the founder and CEO of Brantley Enterprises which owns and operates Hot Jazz Chops and Gospel Skillz. These sites are dedicated to the mission of embracing and encouraging musicians like himself to be persistent in thier craft and always strive for excellence. He is married with one child and currently resides in Tega Cay, SC.
