Letterist began as five kids from various parts of the country who
converged to NYC and decided to make music together.
As the band matured and evolved, it became an outlet for an
intellectual and emotional response to world where the contrivances of
mass communication and media threaten to overwhelm artistic
authenticity.
Formed in late 2006 by songwriter and guitarist Rammy Yogendra and
bassist Grant Howe, Letterist was later joined by Alex McCown on drums
and Pamela Bell on vocals.
The current lineup was completed when Kari Lee Wasoba of Lantern
Lights came on board as a second vocalist and keyboardist.
On the first of November, 2009, Letterist will release their first
full length record Under Volcanoes.
Recorded and produced with Brooklyn-based recording artist, Gareth
William Schumacher, Under Volcanoes is a discovery of the influences,
genres, and themes that unite the band and express each member's
individual ethos.
It has been an exhilarating and sometimes turbulent journey for the
band, from it's inception to the release of Under Volcanoes. They
hope this album will take you along the routes of their exploration,
and that it will captivate your interest and imagination to accompany
them onwards.
