Listening Time: 75 minutes

13-digit ISBN: 978-0-9737586-8-9

Between 1986 and 1989 Uncle Val, an elderly outharbour gentleman, wrote nineteen letters from his new home in the suburbs of St. John’s to his old friend Jack back home. Val’s move from the Bay to the ‘burbs' to live with his daughter, her obnoxious husband, their youngsters and two useless poodles, is an uneasy one. His slow adjustment and eventual appreciation for life in town is endearingly revealed through his letters to Jack.

"There are precious few actors who can charm and bind an audience so completely as Andy Jones." -- Gordon Jones, Telegram, St. John's

Andy Jones is a stage and film actor and writer living in St. John’s, Newfoundland. He performed for many years with the comedy troupe Codco.

This September a film version of his one-man show King O’ Fun premiered on BRAVO! TV and was shown at The Atlantic Film Festival.

Jones was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland where he co-founded the Resource Centre for the Arts at the L.S.P.U. Hall, co-writing, acting in, and directing many original productions. He is well known in Canada as one of the groundbreaking Newfoundland comedy troupe CODCO, in both its theatrical and television incarnations. With the CODCO collective he wrote 5 full-length theatre pieces: Cod On A Stick, Sickness Death and Beyond The Grave, Das Capital, Pocketcrumbs, and The Tale Ends. Other notable works include Albert, a one-act play for one man and a budgie bird, and the children’s plays Jack Meets the Cat and Jack-Five-Oh.

Hey guys,

I'm hitting the road in a couple of weeks to raise money for War Child,
Coast-to-coast – 50 cities – ALL PROCEEDS TO WARCHILD. Why? 66% of all
war victims are CHILDREN. Shocked like me? War Child helps these
children that have been affected by war. Check out the new blog – the
whole story is up there. Love to have you be a part of it.

You’ll find a Blog, Tour page and a Bio page. I’ll be blogging daily from the road.

http://www.liamtitcomb.com/warchild/

I've also got this “widget” for a FREE download of 5
songs. Please send it on to your peeps – to help raise awareness of War
Child and the tour.

You can also embed this widget in your facebook, myspace etc. I’d really appreciate that.

We have permission from Sony ATV publishing to give the songs away from now till the end of the tour... So let’s work it.

Thanks,

-Liam

Dear Uncle Val,

Here's wishing you the happiest of Holiday Seasons. May all of your dreams come true. I took this photo a few years ago on a cold winter day in the old part of Bratislava, Slovakia, about an hour's train ride from Vienna.

With much love,

Joel

Merry Christmas and may all your dreams come true

Hey Andy, thanks for finding me. We were just with Tom last night in Peterborough for the Willie P. fundraiser. Swear to god - when the tape started - before I read your name and figured out who you were - I thought god, that sounds like Cathy!
Notice you've got Nancy up on your favs - one of my favorites as well - still laugh at Dust Bunnies.

Hello Andy - Wow, I just checked in and realized that you've put me in your top 8. Thanks! I am indeed honoured :-)

I am a HUGE CODCO fan and wish that CBC would start running it again. My sister (who lives across the province from me near Ottawa) and I used to phone each other and watch the show together (our Mum was from Belfast, so we share your sense of hunour)!!!

Anyhow, I look forward to reading your book. I just asked you to be my friend on 1 of my other myspace sites, too.
Keep on doing what you do so well!!!
