«Let the Jam Roll» is a band from Guimarães, formed since late 2005. The band consolidated after a «Jam Session», for most of the musicians already knew each other and had the long pursued wish to form a band.
This is how the LJR gathered, under a creative philosophy without barriers, sustained by a great improvisation component and, through intuition and feeling, allying the theme to the message. This message, always irreverent, fights for freedom of creation and expression purposes, in order to keep their work genuine and faithful to music’s essential principles, allowing, therefore, a higher evolution, both artistic and human. Barriers such as time limit, preformed musical structures or the directional conception of composition are not part of LJR’s philosophy.
The band’s members, adepts of sonorities declaredly focussed on live shows, have overwhelming performances in what concerns animation and versatility of the themes, allied to a modern message with a strong social component, which allows a higher communicability with the public.
The concerts obviously become their main «weapon», in which their energetic performances become more noticeable, providing surprise among the most attentive spectators, recreating a little of the «Jam Session» spirit of other times. This spirit began with forms of language such as the Blues and Jazz music, never forgotten given their relevance in music’s world-wide’s evolution; LJR recreates it, bringing it into more timely and contemporary languages, being the language of the band the so-called Fusion – the musical fusion of the emotional fusions. Since the beginning of their formation as a band, LJR have given several concerts and have also participated in some contests. Some of the band’s well-succeeded experiences include their participation in «Palco Novos Talentos» (New Talents’Stage) in Festa do Avante 2005, after a national selection; and their 1st place in the «V Festival Internacional de Fafe» (Fafe’s International Festival) on 2006.
The band has a vast musical influence that goes from Jazz music, Classical music, the Blues, Funk, Rock, to the afro-cuban rhythms. Names such as Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Frank Zappa, Pink Floyd, Jeff Buckley, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Chicago, Scott Henderson, Jorge Palma, Júlio Pereira, Paul Simon, Herbie Hanckok, Jimmy Hendrix, Chopin, Debussy, Grieg, Mozart, Ben Harper, Rage Against the Machine, Tool, Muse, Dream Theatre, Ninthin Sawney, Eric Clapton, Sting, Police, White Snake, Michel Camilo, Chano Dominguez, Paco de Lucia, among many others, have served as an inspiration to the band. Nevertheless, the main inspiring muse of LJR’s music is Life!
