LETZTE INSTANZ to celebrate their band anniversary with new acoustic album and tour featuring guests from Subway To Sally, Schandmaul and Jesus On Extasy!
What happens if you begin to wonder 10 years into your career exactly who or what you are? Brute romanticism, folk rock, crossover, goth, art, or simply rock? What is left when the make-up is removed? When melodies caress the ear, unmasked and at an enjoyable volume?
LETZTE INSTANZ have been an integral part of the music scene for 10 years, a chameleon on the German music landscape, difficult to describe in a few words. The band themselves try to provide answers on the terrain they know best: music. To celebrate their anniversary, the seven Letzte Instanz musicians have slimmed down their sound and added extra personnel. The result is an acoustic set consisting of new songs and a journey through 10 years of LETZTE INSTANZ. No e-guitars, but classic string quartets and a piano instead. The set presents a number of songs in a new musical context, the live fave "Ohne Dich" is turned into a tender ballad, and songs such as "Morgenrot" and "Du und ich" return in a new, jazz-oriented outfit. There are reunions with popular classics such as "Für immer und ewig", "Kalter Glanz" and "Jeden Morgen". The concept is based on unmasking, the band wanting to reveal what lies underneath their otherwise extremely powerful sound. Intricate song structures come to the surface, contemporary and affectionately composed all the way through.
The CD "Das weisse Lied" (Drakkar/Sony/BMG) will arrive at the stores on 14 December 2007, featuring new acoustic versions of older Instanz material, as well as four new compositions in "Winter", "Das weisse Lied", and the instrumentals "Eros" and "Mutter". At the same time, the band has tried its hand at a real classic from the history of rock music - "Helden", the only German-language song by David Bowie, an artist that the band greatly admires. The grand old man wrote the lyrics during his time in West Berlin at the end of the Seventies about two lovers who find each other again at the Berlin Wall during the Cold War. 30 years on, the time has come to revive this standard - a task tailor-made for a band consisting of three musicians from Bavaria, three from Saxony, and one from Berlin. Love is the leitmotif that prevails on "Das weisse Lied". All the tracks were carefully selected and positioned, taking the listener on a journey from the lowest to the highest spheres, from eros and philia to agape. A clue for the fans of a group who usually reveal very little about possible interpretations of their complex lyrics and symbolism.
"Die weisse Tour", a tour of the German-speaking territories, with concerts in theatres and churches, is scheduled to follow in February and March 2008. The seven Letzte Instanz musicians will be supported by piano, viola and 2 violins. Anna Kränzlein (Schandmaul) on viola, Frau Schmitt (Subway To Sally) on violin, and - as on "Das weisse Lied" - Leandra aka Ophelia Dax (Jesus On Extasy) on vocals and piano. A project that has fans lining up at the box offices already.

Was, wenn man sich nach 10 Jahren fragt, wer oder was man ist. Brachialromantik, Folkrock, Crossover, Gotik, Art oder einfach nur Rock. Was bleibt wenn die Schminke ab ist? Wenn Melodien unmaskiert und in angenehmer Lautstärke die Ohren umspielen?
Seit nunmehr 10 Jahren gibt es die LETZTE INSTANZ, ein Chamäleon in der Deutschen Musiklandschaft, das sich schwer in drei Worten beschreiben lässt. Die Band versucht selbst die Antwort auf dem Terrain zu geben, auf dem sie sich am Besten auskennt: der Musik. Zum Bandjubiläum specken die sieben Instanzler den Sound ab und stocken personell auf. Das Ergebnis: Ein Akustik-Programm mit neuen Songs und einer Reise durch 10 Jahre LETZTE INSTANZ. Keine E-Gitarren, dafür klassische Streichquartette und ein Piano. Für das Programm wurden viele Stücke in einen neuen musikalischen Kontext gestellt. Da wird der Live-Kracher "Ohne Dich" zu einer sanften Ballade und Songs wie "Morgenrot" und "Du und ich" kommen im jazzigen Gewand daher. Ein Wiederhören gibt es auch mit beliebten Klassikern wie "Für immer und ewig", "Kalter Glanz" und "Jeden Morgen". Das Konzept ist Demaskierung. Die Band will zeigen was unter ihrem sonst so mächtigen Sound steckt. Filigrane Songstrukturen kommen da zum Vorschein, zeitgenössisch und liebevoll durchkomponiert.
Am 14. Dezember 2007 kommt die CD "Das weisse Lied" (Drakkar/Sony/BMG) in den Handel. Darauf vertreten sind akustische Neuvertonungen älterer Instanz-Songs sowie mit "Winter", "Das weiße Lied" und den instrumentalen Stücken "Eros" und "Mutter" vier Neukompositionen. Außerdem hat sich die Band an einem Klassiker der Rock-Geschichte versucht. "Helden" ist das einzige deutschsprachige Lied von David Bowie, einem Künstler, den die Band sehr verehrt. Der Altmeister schrieb den Text in seiner West- Berliner Zeit, Ende der 70-er Jahre. Im Text geht es um zwei Liebende, die sich im Ost-West-Konflikt an der Berliner Mauer wieder finden. 30 Jahre danach ist es an der Zeit diesen Song wieder zu beleben, eine Aufgabe wie geschaffen für eine Band aus drei Bayern, drei Sachen und einem Berliner. Liebe ist auch der Rote Faden, der sich durch "Das weisse Lied" zieht. So wurden alle Stücke genau ausgewählt und platziert, nehmen den Hörer auf eine Reise vom Niederen zum Höchsten, von Eros über Philia zu Agape. Ein Fingerzeig für die Fans einer Band, die sonst so wenig über mögliche Interpretationen ihrer vielschichtigen Texte und Symbolik preisgibt.
Im Februar und März 2008 folgt dann mit "Die weisse Tour" eine Konzerttournee durch Theater und Kirchen im deutschen Sprachraum. Dabei werden die sieben Instanzler durch Piano, Bratsche und eine 2. Violine verstärkt. Als Gäste konnten dazu Anna Kränzlein (Schandmaul) an der Bratsche, Frau Schmitt (Subway To Sally) an der Violine und wie schon auf "Das weisse Lied" Leandra aka Ophelia Dax (Jesus On Extasy) für Gesang und Piano gewonnen werden. Ein Projekt, das schon jetzt die Fans an den Vorverkaufskassen Schlange stehen lässt.
