At least 15,000 visitors braved the rain to enjoy the 25th birthday celebrations at this year's Lewisham People's Day. The crowd were rewarded by enthusiastic performances from amongst others, The James Taylor Quartet, The London Breakbeat Orchestra and local legends Harare Dread.
Great entertainment included kids activities, film, dance and there was even a polar bear spotted roaming the park! People's Day worked with Lewisham Music Service to put 300 young people on stage together to play a mass performance piece introduced by the Mayor of Lewisham, Sir Steve Bullock. In his welcome speech The Mayor thanked the thousands of members of the community who work with Lewisham Council every year to make People's Day one of London's most unique and best loved annual events.

Stream, in partnership with Greenwich Council, have been scouring the borough to find the most exciting new film-making talent to showcase as part of the Greenwich Film Festival.
So, if you think that you could be the next Martin Scorsese, or simply want the chance to see your film on the silver screen you have one week left to submit your film.
The Greenwich Film Festival is a unique programme of screenings and events taking place across the borough of Greenwich 23 – 26 July 2009 and we are looking for films from young film-makers aged 25 or under. A selection of the best films submitted will be screened during the festival and there will also be a cash prize for the very best films selected.

Submission is open to young film-makers aged under 25 on 29 June 2009 or groups of young film-makers with an average age of 25 or under. Entrants
