Romance, Pain, Friendship, an insatiable urge to create sound coming from an unexplained place where addiction lies.
"The groups sound is fortified with sweeping vistas, displaced ache and static energy that suggests the soundtrack to a Zach Braff film or a prime time Ford commercial. This is the music of long road trips fueled by heartbreak, of artfully neglected bars darkened against sunny afternoons, of city parks in the muddy throws of early spring and of tenderly maintained collections of vintage T-shirts."
Under the rug; An EP released in 2006
"Under the Rug by Lewis: Lewis, the project of guitarist Matt Call, is a bit of an anomaly in Asheville. The trio plays the sort of pop favored by college radio stations. Under the Rug, their current EP, turns up tight, well-produced songs reminiscent simultaneously of the Cure (if they were polished for a commercial audience) and '90s alt-rock (Soundgarden with better vocals or a more polite Stone Temple Pilots). And yet, with darkly ambient background noise, synth-y drums and lyrics that evoke loneliness and loves lost, Lewis manages to be wholly modern.
If Rug gets fleshed out as a full-length disc with some of the crowd-pleasing covers Lewis plays live, it will be a well-realized effort."
