Critics have, as they are wont to do, drawn comparisons to Brian Wilson, Marvin Gaye, Todd Rundgren, Stevie Wonder, Jimi Hendrix, Curtis Mayfield and Syd Barrett. Luckily, you can just listen to the tracks featured here or (we hope) buy a copy of The Lost Album and make your own ______ meets _______ meets _______ comparisons.
If you came to Lewis Taylor through his psychedelic soul masterpiece, Stoned, the sun-soaked prog of The Lost Album might come as a surprise. But don't worry. You can still wrap yourself in his melodies, float on his harmonies and marvel at the sheer virtuosity behind every meticulously-crafted song. It's a very different, but no less astonishing, side of Lewis Taylor. And one that nearly remained unheard.
The Lost Album began life as demos for the follow-up to Lewis Tayor's highly-acclaimed debut record. Labeled by the press as the second-coming of soul and expected to work within those confines, he shocked his then-label by indulging his love of progressive rock and West-coast pop. The demos were subsequently rejected by his label, and Taylor fulfilled his contract with another album of begrudgingly brilliant soul.
Years later, on his own label, Lewis and collaborator Sabina Smyth revisited those demos and finally made the album they'd always envisioned. Upon its release in the UK, the British press embraced The Lost Album with the same rapt enthusiasm as his previous work.
Now HackTone Records is proud to present The Lost Album in America - repackaged, remastered and expanded with three acoustic recordings of songs from his 1996 debut.

So happy you found me, really enjoyin your sounds, beautiful vibe, this is what i want to listen to tomorrow morning on my way to work :) Blessings brotha...D
As a preface to my tirade, I must apologize for channelling my inner mom to persuade you to come out of retirement. "Okay, Mr. Taylor (I am looking down my nose and over my glasses with the sternest "mom glare" possible), It is time for you to get off your butt right now, Mr. and put out some music! You think good music grows on trees?????!!! When I was your age, you know what we had to do to hear good music???? We had to walk 10 miles in the snow to go to the record store...That's right, we listened to records; skips and all but did we complain??? NO WAY!! Because we knew if we did, our mom would whip our asses and she'd make us go out to the tree and get the branch to use!!! But you... It's all about you isn't it? While there are people in this world swimming in a convoluted, slickly produced sea of mediocrity, you're sitting on the couch in RETIREMENT!!!! Go outside and bring me the biggest branch you can find so I can whip your ass!!! NOW, MR.!!!" In a nut shell, Mr. Taylor; you are one of the few musicians who can evoke some sort of feeling in your listeners. That sort of power is sorely lacking in almost all pop music put out in the past 20 years. Please don't let your genius fade into complete obscurity. A fan (and a mom!)
thanx 4 the ADD,dear Lewis Taylor ♡ u r truly incredible.lovin' ur music!! it seems to be a beautiful abstract picture!! I enjoy dramatic development of it. in its mixture of the organic and inorganic i can feel an uncanny sense too. please continue to create such a high quality music.゜・*:.。 (→ܫ◕ฺ) respect, ai (Sorry...i'm japanese and not good at English...)
Lewis, come BAAAAAAACK ! What the hell is this musical industry that pushed a genius like you to retire ???? The most talented musician/composer/singer of our times can't be silent anymore... Here in France i'm meeting more and more people that miss you and your music so much.
Lewis Taylor is an amazing genius, with so much talent and imagination.
His music is so diverse, and yet not??, with little tastes of the Beach Boys harmonies in there, and a bit of Hendrix guitar in the mix, it's very difficult to tie Lewis's style down to any particular genre.
I personally love everything he does, but being a drummer, my favourite has to be "LoveLight" as the groove on that is infectious and just in the pocket.
Lewis get off your backside, and get back onstage, I will even volunteer to play drums for you if that will swing it???.
If possible: will the man named Lewis Taylor please stand up again and take his place among the best performers/songwriters in the world please!!! It's time to wake up, we need you x J
Dear Lewis, thank you for the add last year. I wish you a happy new better one in 2008. In my dreams I could see you live again. In another one you could hear my 4 new songs on my page. Peace and Harmony.

Lewis, I found you via "Stoned" and love you through "Lost" but am so sad that you're no longer recording or performing. Such a shame, you are so incredibly talented and the world needs more of you. Please consider indulging those of us who appreciate you. :-)
I know that you're still making music... A musical genius like yourself could never give that up... Well I guess we all have to be patient enough untill you come back. But for now, I'll enjoy what you've made so far... Thank you for your incredible music!
