When defining a person who is multi-talented, the twenty-four year old internet sensation “Lexilex” is not to be excluded. Born Alexis Nicole White in to a single mother pursuing a degree from Purdue University, Alexis was raised by grandparents for the first five years of her life. During this time, her grandfather helped mold her into the star she is today by photographing her regularly and collecting many pictures of her. It was because of her grandfather’s passion of photography that cultivated Alexis to fall in love with the camera.
Since a child, Alexis has been captivating audiences with her dynamic persona. During her vacations from school, her mother enrolled her in numerous programs that enabled her ability to take on new challenging roles. However, with the help of a 7th grade teacher, Alexis began to form a passion for writing allowing her to evolve creatively. “I hated that class, she was so picky” she recalls. Nonetheless, Alexis admits, “but I would go home and use what she taught me and applied it to what I wanted to write about”. From that moment on, Alexis would write anything and everything from diary entries, poems, and songs to short stories.
However, it wasn’t until her junior year at Purdue University that she realized she could have a real audience. “I was sitting outside rambling on about something and these girls were just laughing at me, and the one girl was like, ‘you need to have your own radio show’.” Upon that, Alexis utilized facebook.com to organize “Alexis’ Girl Talk Radio” in which she would post questions in a restricted group of all African American females, and listen to the “callers” respond and share some of their life stories. Eventually, the word spread about the radio show and men began to sneak into the group, violating the confidentially of the viewers, and the radio show abruptly ended in 2006.
With realizing the impact that she had upon people with her thoughts, views, and self-expression, she began reaching out to the world again by blogging on MySpace.com. “I got a lot of people interested in who I was, what I had to say, and where I was going,” she said. Shortly thereafter, Alexis launched Whispering Grapevines Entertainment & News; allowing her to take her creative writings to a new level. She also launched a successful online radio show “Late Nights with Lexilex,” which allows her to speak about topics that she’s passionate about it. She also created a successful YouTube channel that has reached over 100,000 views and 800 subscribers.
In spite of her success, Alexis has gained attention for the memoirs of her life as she shared her experiences of love, life, and failures with strangers via internet. It is without a shadow of a doubt that Alexis will be the 1 “Who’s Who” of all internet media worldwide. She is definitely a force to be reckoned with and a voice to listen to.
