About me: Prompted by learning that coulrophobia (the abnormal fear of clowns) is one of the fastest-growing phobias in the Western World, Lez Bobo the Clown was forced to explore her talents beyond those employed in traditional clowning. In her series titled, "Clowns Are People Too", she responds to clown marginalization by giving audiences unique insight into the complexity of clowns as happy, sad and even sexual beings. By infiltrating performance vehicles such as burlesque, modern dance, rap, stripping, folk-music, spoken-word and more, she shatters the false perception that clowns aren't versatile artists worthy of respect. Her most controversial and popular performance piece is titled “Clowns Are Sexy Too”. Described as "disturbing", "hilarious" and "layered", the piece is a comment on the history and transformation of burlesque performance, focusing on the shifting power that women as performers have in the process.
