Can't have too much fun with these guys... wish I could go jammin' with 'em!!!!
Check out the little clip of the Arbor Day Jam at the Old Lantern with Ken French (guitar), Johnny Reid (harmonica), Ray Carroll (drums), Mick Petrie (bass) and Steven Kiernan (guitar). what a BLAST!!
Me and my friends... more coming!
Mary P and I haven't played much because her band is keeping her busy.
We have fun though! I'm still brushing up...
Here is Mary with some of the fellas at the Monkey Bar House in Sept. 2008. They were rocking!!!!
Influences
oh so many... we are lucky in this world with all the great music.
nature, folks... that's the biggie. the question is... is it human nature? or just plain NATURE?
Here's the poster for my FIRST American bar gig... I did play in Wales once years ago... and didn't really want to do another although people seemed to like it. I must guard against stage fright! We had a really great time... and afterwards Mary stepped up to rock the place during the Monkey House Blues Jam!! fun fun fun...
My buddy Carol Jones and me goofing off at Shelburne Farms...
and here is Carol Ann Jones and the Superchargers at the Lincoln Inn! Andre Maquera, Lead Guitar; Gary "Spud" Spaulding, drums; Will Patton (bass); Dan Skea (keyboards). Cool for an over forty farm wife to come out with her first CD and sound THIS GOOD!! Great original tunes... brava brava!!
I love my ole Gibson "The Paul..."
check out my brother Johnny on the harmonica! Playing with the wonderful Eames Brothers, Seth on guitar and Ralph on bass... with Gabe Jarrett on drums and Colleen Mays taking center stage!!!
And we love these Nashville boys, The Coal Men, singing "Louisiana." Let us not forget the power of NATURE... and how quickly it can change the world as we know it...
Here is Giuliano Dottori in Fidenza, Italia... near where parmesan cheese comes from... yum!
sweet show... a little late... sorry it's so dark!
Now I can honestly say that these two gents have seriously influenced me over the past few years... folks, this is Bill Mullins and Lowell Thompson. I'm changing my comment about these favorites of mine to reflect that this is a VINTAGE Charlotte Coffeehouse clip of a rare duo appearance. These two play in several bands and you can find out more by visiting their pages!!
Check out the Radio Bean Honky Tonk Town Meeting Tuesday Crew... leader Brett Hughes with killer team of Tyler Bolles (bass), Lowell Thompson (acoustic guitar), Mark Spencer (electric guitar and lap steel), Russ Lawton (drums), Marie Claire (piano) and more! what a blast! This was REALLY entertaining! My first utube endeavor, too... so, i'll leave it up for your viewing pleasure.
There will also be a silent auction to SUPPORT OUR DAIRY FARMERS! They are IMPORTANT to the future of Vermont!! AND to the USA. Proceeds will go to Dairy Farmers Working Together to assist with expenses as they seek ways to stabilize milk prices and set a more effective and humane quota system.
I will be taking a break from producing these Old Lantern "LIVE" shows. The Charlotte community is apparently too busy to really enjoy my efforts but the music will live on! We hope to produce a November 14 show with Carol Jones and the Superchargers in conjunction with the Lund Family Center. More on that later!! Have a beneficiary component is key to my interest in putting these events on. The series has contributed so far to area programs such as the Hinesburg Lions CVU Scholarship Program, The Vergennes Boys and Girls Club Music Program, The Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity WARMTH Program, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Foundation, The Tom Sustic Fund, the Rwanda Educational Partnership, the Smith Family Farm and Dairy Farmers Working Together -- www.dfwt.org.
Thank you to everyone who has supported the series to date and we hope there will be continuing fun at some point in the future!! You can ALWAYS support local music by going to hear your favorite bands. I continue to be amazed with the great quality of the local entertainment here in the Burlington area. There is so much great talent to choose from so just GO FOR IT!
I still want to get over to ITALIA... but challenges in the DAIRY INDUSTRY are keeping me home... I will be making more cheese very soon... and my men and boys are still managing the herd and milking cows. Something we can all be thankful for... even if you happen to be lactose intolerant!!!
Here's a funny video of the Mud Season Madness Fashion Show... too bad there weren't more people there to enjoy it!!
I'm keeping the poster below ON because these fireworks went off at THE OLD LANTERN for a wedding ceremony... and since I live right next door, I was able to take some cool pix of the display! PLUS, Carol Jones is a heart star!!! yeah... and Yankee Chank includes Mark Sustic... a most reputable grass roots musician who supports the arts in a marvelous way bringing lots of supreme folk talent to the area. He also runs the Tom Sustic fund in memory of his son who passed away from Leukemia at the age of fourteen. Support the fund when you can... it helps families battling childhood cancer to pay for the added expenses incurred during treatment. Thank you for your interest in our music! We love you!!!

We need your ENERGY!!
Sorry for the continuing delay in sharing my music! Now I have this promotion gig to attend to... and a ton of other work as well. Figuring out the technical end is stumping me a little... time wise. But I have been playing and practicing!
I got to attend the FARM AID concert in Mansfield, Mass September 2008. That was a blast! I'll put some pix up on that at some point... STILL STALLING ON THIS BUT IT WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE.
Check out Blues and Lasers... WOW... Scott Tournet, Benny Yurco, Bryan Dondero, Steve Sharon and Matt Burr... what a lineup! Grace Potter sure knows how to pick 'em! These guys have primal rock and rolls in their souls... fantastic!
The Monkey Bar acoustic show with Paddy Reagan, Lowell Thompson and Kelly Ravin remains one of the FAVORITES! I love these guys but it's a rare occurrence to see them together as they are busy with their individual music careers. You can hear the tape of this evening and other live music in Burlington at www.burlingtonlivemusic.com thanks to Jonah Schulte!
For the love of music... and always working on it.
I have missed my self-imposed recording deadline but I have a few new songs! I still plan to post some very rough stuff but true before the summer's out but I have to clean house first! I am an uber staller...
So much to do as a housewife... mother and farm wife... every day is a blessing! BUT... I gotta figure out this recording stuff... so thank you for being patient... at least I'm practicing a little every day!
I publish a small newspaper called Rural Route Today out of my home in Vermont... 3,000 copies are printed at DenPubs in the Adirondacks. Volunteers are needed--writers, photographers, ad salespeople--whatever it takes! If any of you local folks in the area believe in our rural culture and want to help... PLEASE CONTACT ME! or tell your friends...
peace! LOVE!
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2008!
"Things can be great in 2008 but you have to WORK at it..."
Well, now we're in 2009 and hurdling along... so be it!
My favorite Lowell Thompson opened for Grace Potter at the Higher Ground New Year's celebration. His band was GREAT! and Grace and the Nocturnals are true rock 'n roll gems. What a great show it was!!!! Lowell's band also shared a night at Nectar's with The Coal Men... these northern and the southern bands rocked the joint and us girls sure had a blast!
LET ME SAY THAT THESE FRIENDS REPRESENT SOME AMAZING TALENT... LISTEN UP!
Here are some pix of December 2007 shows in Burlington... check the captions... We are so lucky to have such a FUN and active music scene in this area...
A bunch of few changes but the message is the same... catch me with that music!
It's such a pleasure to appreciate you all... THANKS to all of you for making MUSIC!
Check out my BLOG, too... or BLOGS or whatever they are!
i love adding comments to my own profile! I'm digging this sweet tune by my favorite Lowell Thompson! so... just sharing it a little... not sure who wrote this tune... maybe LT? but it's not confirmed just yet... enjoy!
