Travel (local and global), food, drinks, cooking, music, movies, history, conversation, big ideas, pretty old things, technology, art, science, learning, play, humans, futurism, dressing up.
Music
Billie Holiday to Juno Reactor and lots of stuff in-between. Grew up on classic country and Elvis. Was an alternative/synth pop freak in high school. Studied ethnomusicology briefly. Got big into the swing revival and electronica for a while. Love the KEXP ethos - all over the place but it's all quality. The only thing I don't much like is reggae (okay, and maybe thrash metal), and even that's okay in small doses. I could list singers/bands that I like, but that would really take far too long. If you're interested I can share Rhapsody playlists (my profile is here...) or Pandora stations (here's one for ya...) ...
Basically, have little music talent of my own (though I sometimes sing with perhaps more alacrity than I ought to, given the fact that I was thrown out of choir), so appreciate (am awestruck by, in fact) people who do. Have been seeing as many shows as I can manage - trying to get my head around the Seattle music scene, but it will take a while... love cozy old-timey venues like the Triple Door and the Rendezvous. Hate the Showbox for reasons I won't bore you with (unless you ask, in which case I will happily pontificate). Like some of the spots in Ballard, if for no other reason than acts I like seem to like them... but I suppose dank and dark yanks chains other than mine. And that's okay.
Movies
Indie, foreign, biopics, sci-fi, historical. Anything involving lush cinematography, complex characters, good clothes or production values, or nifty near future technology. Favorites? The Hudsucker Proxy (love lots of Coen Bros. movies, actually), the Terminator, Lost in Translation, Adaptation, Amelie, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Roman Holiday, the Princess Bride (of course!), Tombstone, Before Sunrise/Before Sunset, Little Miss Sunshine, Blade Runner, Run Lola Run, Double Indemnity, Monsters, Inc, The Man Who Wasn't There, Big Night, Ghost World, A Room With a View, Serenity(!), the Fifth Element, Raise the Red Lantern, His Girl Friday, It Happened One Night, Hero, Walk the Line, Gosford Park, the Departed, Little Miss Sunshine, the Thirteenth Floor, all the Matrix movies... oh jeez, this is hard. Too many to list.
Television
Cooking shows, Grey's Anatomy, Behind the Music, random house/decorating shows, quality reality TV (lol, thanks Marcos, for believing that there is such a thing!). I'm kinda a documentary nerd, too, so you're likely to catch me watching anything that involves how things are made, biographies, history, techie-science-y stuff, etc.
Books
Yikes. I read work-related books mostly (learning theory, media studies, videogame theory, market research, blah blah blah). Last fiction I remember reading was Houellebecq's Platform - a bit shocking, but I like my fiction that way. I tried getting a couple of friends to read it but they all hated it. I'd pretty much rather read non-fiction unless a book gives me something significantly new to think about. Geek Love had that effect, I remember, as did the Time Traveler's Wife, The Man Who Folded Himself (yes, there is a time travel theme here) and even some Candace Bushnell novel that I hated but thought about for days.
Heroes
Pretty much anyone who really thinks for themselves.
About me: One of those kids who wouldn't shut up. I'm an anthropologist, sort of. I love anything blue, trees, travel, music, food (both cooking and eating it), old stuff (esp. photos!) and lots more.
More about me here if you care...
And here's a link to my LinkedIn profile, in case you do that professional networking thang...

"Just as unhurried as it is precious and reflective. The atmosphere is serene; you’ll pick
every word that is uttered and find a world that normally goes at a million miles an hour
slow to a relaxing canter. "

Hey chica! I just now saw your tweet from almost two weeks ago to Brent where you mentioned me (this one), and I'm sorry I missed it the first time around because awww, how sweet are you?
Anyway, as I'm sure you gathered, there was no actual lunch, but rather, some bandying about of meme and metaphor and innuendo and silliness.
That said, if I ever get my ass back to Seattle (used to live there, place still has my heart, dammit... plus I have a lot of friends there), we should definitely meet for an actual lunch (not to exclude the possibility of memes, metaphors, etc.).
that's the profile i made to link up with my family. its a bit cleaned up. my real myspace is myspace/dcallicoat. how are you? havent talked to you in a bit.
Hi, Lisa! Been meaning to write for a while now. It looks like we have quite a few mutual friends in common, so perhaps see you in the real world one of these days (*cough cough* Comet show, April 27th *cough*).
Drop me line anytime, or Twitter me. (Did I just say that?)
Welcome to the iReligion! I attend regular services to the Temple of the Appleness in the U-District. (My donations tend to be on the large side, but I feel like my soul appreciates it.) we should carpool. Coffee and donuts after the service sometime soon? ;)
Part musical cabaret, part mystical mind-expansion - and wholly enjoyable! The premise for the show is as simple as it is unique: a band, an audience, and the honest life-questions of audience members.
I think I still owe you a comment, n'est pas? Lisa rocks. She is one of the most interesting people I have ever met and is a constant inspiration. I just wished she lived clsoer. love you, sweetie.
