Writing and the literary community, helping and networking with other writers and those interested in the art. Science and technology, the outdoors, astronomy HISTORY, particularly US history, medical history and historical records. I love to cook, and consider it an art. I particularly enjoy developing my own recipies, ethnic food, and preparing large, elaborate meals for friends and family,
Music
Almost anything!! I have an extensive musical background. I studied voice for twelve years. I've sung professionally, non-professionally, and mostly in the shower. I can pick on the piano, and run you out of the room with the violin. I learned to sing the blues listening to my mother's old 'Black and White' label 78rpm records that she crossed the tracks to buy. We danced barefoot on the hardwood floors to everything that had a beat. My mother's love of music and her enjoyment and SHARING of many genres opened the world to me. Today, my daughter and I share 'new' music: hip-hop, metal, punk, even the rhythmic poetry of rap. But the blues!! The blues is written on my heart.
Movies
I'm a chick-flick junkie. There, I admit it! But I love good horror, too, and the occasional thriller or action flick is fine by me. Some of my recent favs: 'Cinderella Man', 'Crash', 'Seabiscuit', 'Sense and Sensibility', 'Love Actually', 'A History Of Violence'~~~the list goes on and on. I'm particularly fond of westerns from John Wayne, Buck Jones, and Tom Mix, to today's iconic films, such as Kurt Russell's terrific 'Tombstone' and Tom Selleck in 'Quigley Down Under'. "Lonesome Dove' and 'Broken Trail' do it for me,too.
Television
For the most part~~~ick! What can I say? I was a cop for half my life and find reality TV on a par with the mentality of folks who like nothing more than watching the aftermath of a 'good wreck'. I watch, when I watch, the History Channel, et al. I do LOVE Mike Rowe and his 'Dirty Jobs'.
Books
Books run the gamut. History intrigues me. I love narrative non-fiction, recently read 'The American Plague', and HIGHLY recommend it! Micki Peluso recently published 'And The Whippoorwill Sang', a wonderful but gut-wrenching memoir centering on the death of her daughter at the hands of a drunk driver. And, I have to admit I'm a sucker for a good historical romance. Among those authors, I enjoy Jo Beverly, Julia London, Edith Layton, and several others.
Heroes
My mother---who did more with nothing than anyone I've ever known. My husband, whose moral compass is always pointed north, whose heroism in the literal sense is astounding, and who thinks I hung the moon. My daughter, who faces her demons head-on, and who makes a difference wherever she goes. SHE is the best decision I ever made! She is so absolutely perfect in my eyes, I keep calling the hospital where she was born just to see if they might know where my REAL kid is. This one can't possibly be mine. And my maternal grandmother, Lucy: author, businesswoman, miner, philosopher, and, like her daughter (my mom) so many, many other things.

I live and work in Wyoming and thank God every day that the people I write for don't have web cams. Often nattily attired in my psychedelic, polyester, batwing robe with the big run in the butt~~~no makeup~~~no hairbrush~~~well, you get the picture~~~I spend my days tapping out stories filled with characters of my own making, but who often rub elbows with 'real' folks from the past.

My husband and I have adjoining offices and dueling computers. He serves as my research assistant and often emails answers to my burning questions through the fifteen feet that separate our CPUs. My office companion is a Jack Russell Terrier (terrorist, actually) named Rowdi. I have a wonderful, beautiful, brilliant daughter who's away at college.
I am the coordinator of America Online's writers' chat group, Writers on AOL. You can often find me, evenings, in various writers' chats on AOL. In addition to that, I edit two newsletters; one is literary, the other is not, and I work a couple days a week in a little bookshop.
I cook, sew, and read, read, read.
Who I'd like to meet: Mark Twain, Bertrand Russell, Jane Austen, Albert Einstein, US Grant, Abe Lincoln, Robert E. Lee, Custer (just to ask him what the hell he was thinking), Pat Frank, who wrote the most amazing book~~~and then never wrote another. Any and all of my antecedents, just to see if they're as ecclectically-minded and terminally twisted as I. I'd love to hug Ray Charles, sit at BB King's feet, and tell Clapton what a genius he is. I'd like to thank Johnny Cash, dance with Trace Adkins, and slap Janis Joplin for cheating us all out of more of her.
