    Liam's Interests
GeneralAs mentioned before, I'm into football (LFC especially), music, film, food and drink etc., as well as being a keen linguist (I speak Spanish fairly well and, in the future, would like to make a proper stab at learning French and Italian).
MusicMost of the music I'm into at the moment is indie and electronic stuff, though I do like quite a bit of soul, jazz, blues, Latin stuff (getting into late 60's Brazilian stuff right now); most stuff except bubblegum pop shite, most hip hop and R&B (though I do like Dizzee Rascal and Plan B) and the type of dance that gets played in most places you go to in town. Among the bands/artists that I'm enjoying right now include Arcade Fire, Arctic Monkeys, Air, The Coral, The Zutons, The Dead 60's, Ladytron, Jim Noir, Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Chiefs, Kasabian, Interpol, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Go! Team, ¡Forward, Russia!, We are Scientists, Tom Vek, The Long Blondes, The Killers, Kings of Leon, Daft Punk, The Kooks, Cat Power, The White Stripes, Super Furry Animals, Radiohead, Chemical Brothers, The Bravery, Royksopp, early Streets stuff (1st album), Bloc Party, Belle and Sebastian, Basement Jaxx, Hayseed Dixie, The Magic Numbers, Maximo Park, Giant Drag, Sigur Rós, Sufjan Stevens, The Decemberists, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, The Knife, The Young Knives, The Rapture, CSS, The Pipettes, NYPC, Peter, Bjorn and John, Dandy Warhols as well as bits of things like the Pixies, BRMC, The Pogues, PJ Harvey, while among the fine acts of yesteryear, I enjoy The Smiths (best band ever, for me), The Stone Roses, The La's, My Bloody Valentine, The Beach Boys, Blondie, Talkingheads, David Bowie, Joy Division/New Order, Bob Dylan, Suede, Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk, Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, Portishead, Pulp, REM (OK, I know that, technically, they're still going, but they haven't done anything to compare with Automatic since) and The Libertines.
MoviesI enjoy films that require you to think a little bit or are quite witty in some way. Among my favourite films are the likes of The Godfather films, Dr Strangelove, Donnie Darko, Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs (are you sensing the theme here?) and, more recently, the likes of Sideways and Lost in Translation. I also enjoy foreign language cinema; I'm a BIG fan of Pedro Almodóvar, and have also enjoyed the likes of The Edukators and Zidane: A 21st century icon recently.
TelevisionAlthough I watch a lot of TV (far more than can be considered healthy), most of it is complete dross, though I have really enjoyed Shameless recently (by far one of the best things to have hit our screens in recent times). Most of what I watch besides that are US cartoon shows (Simpsons, Futurama, Family Guy, American Dad, South Park) and re-runs of US sitcoms (Frasier, Seinfeld, Scrubs). Mind you, I have enjoyed the return of an old-school TV classic; that's right, the return (albeit on Bravo) of Gazzetta Football Italia!
BooksGiven how much crap TV I watch, I probably should read a lot more extensively than I do now. I'm afraid that I don't really read that many books outside of technical Chemistry textbooks, although I've been given a couple of biogs (John Peel and the Pythons) recently as presents for Christmas and birthdays. I tend to read more newspapers and magazines, if truth be told.
HeroesI don't know if there are many heroes left anymore, and few names from recent times immediately spring to mind, but I suppose anyone who stands up for what they believe in and has the power of their convictions, as well as anyone who fights for just causes (even when it doesn't benefit them or often lands them in hot water), must qualify as a hero. But, if you want names, I suppose the likes of Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King must rank high up.
You Are 80% Open Minded
You are so open minded that your brain may have fallen out!
Well, not really. But you may be confused on where you stand.
You don't have a judgemental bone in your body, and you're very accepting.
You enjoy the best of every life philosophy, even if you sometimes contradict yourself.

About me:
I'm a 22 year old Chemistry student doing my MChem at the University of Leeds (a fine institution), and am currently in my final year of study having completed my placement. Once this year's over, I'm looking to take a year out (involving 6 months work and 6 months travel around South America) before doing a PhD. Failing that, I'll just go straight into PhD study. As well as being a geeky science student, I'm also a keen follower of Liverpool FC (and, indeed, football in general) and I'm also into music in quite a big way; I play the piano and sing a bit (often a bit more when I'm plied with sufficient alcohol), and am thinking about learning the bass (just to try something new and different, you know!) I also enjoy a good film, as well as being a bit of a foody person (good food and drink surely count among the most important things in life) peel tribute image
Pass along this small tribute, copy this code.
Who I'd like to meet:
Anyone from the Bush administration, so I can tell them directly what I think of them! .. Finally found an embeddable code for this fantastic Zizou headbutt game (see how many red cards you can get!) .. width="425" height="350"> ....> More comic genius from Father Jack Hackett... The best football moment of all time! The best Eurovision entry that never was! Fantastic goal, hilarious commentary, what more can you ask for? Alabama Man!

Mark Chapter 8. 88:9

And so it was proclamied that forever more on the eve of the anniversary of the birth of our lord Jesus Christ That those born in the 8th Decade of the 20th Century would descend in holy pilgrimage to the Gerrard Arms apon the strike of midday. Once seated at the right hand of the bar the youthful disciples full of the joys of the season would consume copious amounts of liquor in massive and varied concoctions. This and the resulting increasingly heathenlike behaviour would continue until such time when the process of consumption is involuntarily reversed or the innkeeper calls upon his minions to let their be light and disperse the holy gathering onto the street of St Helens for their sin to continue. As punsihment the jovial group will suffer unimaginable agony for all of Chriatmas day and low they will feel the true rath of our Lord. Amen
