LiamStatic's Interests
General
Hmmm......I always end up sounding like a raging alcoholic when I list my interests..... I do more than go out to bars and clubs, I swear! So let's see....
I love conerts, especially in small venues. I like most things outside...especially in cities where I can people watch. I did live on Cape Cod so I also like the beach because I can sit and do nothing and still feel like I'm doing something.
I also like winter sports....like skiing and snowshoeing.....that is, until my face turns purple and I realize that I can't feel my legs anymore.
Sometimes I am boring and just like to watch movies and eat lots of those junior mints at the movie theater. They're tasty.
Oh yeah, and I love to go out to bars. Did I mention that?
Music
Wow, now here's a good category.....I don't think I can list everything I like because I'm totally bad about remembering, um, anything, but just for you I'm going to list some of them (in no order at all):
Green Day, Jimmy Eat World, Postal Service, Weezer, Foo Fighters, Sonic Youth, Elkland, Saves the Day, Thursday, Death Cab for Cutie, Postal Service, Guster, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Depeche Mode, The Killers, New Order, The Strokes, Pearl Jam, Coldplay, The Clash, Nirvana, Moby, Bloc Party, Teegan and Sarah, Reel Big Fish, The Saw Doctors, Ben Folds, Dashboard Confessional, Radiohead, Notre Dame Marching Band, many others...
Movies
See....I am supposed to be a film grad who knows all this shit about movies. But, sadly, I don't think I live up to that expectation. I do like a lot of movies, but they are all over the place. Like, I loved Romi and Michelle's High School Reunion, but I hated all of the Lord of the Rings movies. AMERICAN BEAUTY is probably one of my all time faves. ** Update!!!!! - This summer has been pretty good for films - MYSTERIOUS SKIN - Was the most powerful and awesome film I've seen in a long, long time. BROKEN FLOWERS - Another brilliant performance by Bill Murray. YOU, ME, AND EVERYONE WE KNOW - A very real film that I could relate with! THE DYING GAUL - A bizarre, bizarre movie. Good luck! Oh yeah, and EMPIRE RECORDS - huzzah!
Television
Don't watch television, it's evil.
Books
Anything by Kurt Vonegut
Heroes
Duh.....George Bush. I mean, who couldn't like a lying, cheating, and idiot president who couldn't put a sentence together if he tried?

About me: Hmm ... Alaska was lame - those eskimos just don't know how to rock.
So, I'm BAAAACK!
And, in all seriousness, I couldn't be back at a better station!
I am a transplant to Philadelphia - but am loving it! I moved here in January 2005 from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, where everyone pahks their cahs to go to daily lobster bakes on the beach with the Kennedys. Ok, well maybe not but that would have made it more interesting. I was a part time dj at 96.3 The Rooooose .... and played all the songs you LOVE - you know, Kelly Clarkson, Usher, and the Ying Yang Twins. Rock on!!!
Before Cape Cod, I lived in Indiana for 4 years to go to school at Notre Dame. At Notre Dame, I enjoyed lots of Natural (aka "Nattie") Light beer and watched TONS of football. Oh yeah, and I managed to get through my classes and get a degree in film and television production. I didn't get a chance to go cow tipping out there,
Noooooow I'm in good ol' Philly ... the only thing I knew about this city before I came here was Philly cheesesteaks, cream cheese, and Rocky. Little did I know that there was also lager, the Schkookal River (which I will never spell right), and that there was also Y100. Yes, I got to listen to Y100 exactly one month before they were told to BEAT the road ... haha... ok, not funny. Anyways, I found out about y100rocks.com, now Y-Rock on XPN, and have been listening to them since their first party broadcast.
And now, here I am working at the station and actually getting to play music I like. Email your requests and good vibes to Liam@yrockonxpn.org.
Thank you for reading this. It was long. Later!!!
Who I'd like to meet: Other people who believe that radio should actually, like, play music on it.
Hey thanks for being our friend! We'll be having our first show back at Milkboy Coffee in Ardmore on December 14th. Free CD's for the first 100 people at the door!
Thanks for being our friend. We love new indie rock. We hope you enjoy original, Post Punk, alternative with a lush orchestra. If you or yor friends wish to help us on college radio - we appreciate your support! Please forward our profile along to one of your best friends!
All the best!

It's cool that you have seen and liked "Me and You and Everyone We Know". It's such a great film! No one I usually ask about it has seen it though :-( The Baxter is also a great film. Michael Showalter wrote, directed, and starred in it and the soundtrack is great.
well I guess that I will be able to listen to a bit of the countdown today.
really cool that it starts with the Cold War Kids, Hang Me Up To Dry made my top ten, but i have to say, I did not even vote for them for the countdown.
Solveig
Maybe I will be lsitening to the countdown for a while, but i will spend new years at a friends house, and seen that it's midnight 6 hours before it's midnight in Philly...
haha the funny thing about your comment is that while i was interning at Y100, whenever new people were hired we would do a big group orientation-type thing involving questionaires. then we would go around and share our answers. one question was, "why did you want to work at Y100?" and my answer was, "because i wanted to meet josh." that picture was taken the first moment i saw him, which was awkward since he was interviewing me...
Now this is the way to end an amazing year! IKE returns to WCL's downstairs venue w/ Jealousy Curve, and Derek & Jamie of Omnisoul AND John Faye is reuniting his old band The Caulfields for a blistering one-night-only set of faves! DON'T MISS THIS!!
