About me:

I was born March 11 to a Presbatyrian preacher father and an English teacher mother. I was born in Alabama but moved to Texas when I was very young. I then lived in Texas until I was twenty six. While I lived in Texas several bad things happened to me. For one my father told my family that he was homosexual and my parents divorced. Then when I was 18 I was in a major car accident that caused me to have to have thirteen surgies in six years to reconstruct my face. I know have an artificial left eye dew to the accident. In 1988 I graduated from UT Austin and then I moved to New York when I was 26 because I figured if I was going to be a playwright it would be best if I were in New York. While in New York I met Barry Golblatt who I later married in Florence, Italy.
I've always loved writing horror ever since a short story I wrote in my fifth grade class. The story was about vampires and I was very mad when noone was even scared by it. My next short book I wrote was in sixth grade. I called the book "Help" and it was about a girl's family who is kidnapped and are going to be murdered until the heroine jumps in and saves the day. I was upset when for a second time noone was scared by it. Later my husband encouraged me to write a young adult novel that later became A Great and Terrible Beauty. After that I wrote a sequel entitled Rebel Angels. A Great and Terrible Beauty is the story of a girl named Gemma Doyle who is sent to a school in England after the suicide of her mother in India. While in London Gemma realizes why her mother died and finds a new power within her. Gemma soon finds that she has a mortal enemy that she must defeat if she is ever to be safe again. Most everyone liked this book because they thought it gripping and mysterious. Some people call it impossible to put down. Patterns you can find in my books is that I always write about fantasy or fiction. I like to write in the horror/mystery/fiction category.
