Michael Doss is the Liberal Atheist Vegetarian in question, and he's been all of those things for most of his life, despite the fact that he grew up in "conservative" Orange County. While he generally dislikes labels, he finds applying them en masse both confuses and delights. Michael runs Orange County Atheists (a social and political group for like-minded people), he considers the democrats far too centrist (but he votes for them anyway), and he thinks the best vegetarian restaurants are those with a few meat dishes for his pickier friends (nobody's perfect).

Now listen at me now. We are not going to force humanitarian relief on Myanmar's junta! That’s because they are a military government not a bunch of terrorists. My war is not with legitimate governments that contribute to the new Bush world order. It is with terrorist states. Besides John McCain has a lot of key folks in his campaign who are also employed by the junta, guys that are working hard to improve relations between the United States and Myanmar. John feels the same way I do about helping out by engaging in constructive dialog, doing good jawboning that don’t rock the Myanmarian ship of commerce. John and I are both shinning beacons of developmental conservatism on this.

I am getting worried about food shortages slowing down our new bio-fuel businesses. That's why I had my taxpayer paid for financial advisors work up a Bio Fuels Calorie Credit plan. Underdeveloped countries that have used their land to grow biogas grains will get these calorie certificates. They can then trade them on derivative markets to get cash to buy food.
This is a market based, Republican centric, compassionately conservative solution, one that will add great luster to my Presidential legacy. Oh, and I run it by John McCain and he likes it a whole lot.

The President is going to the Olympics this summer no matter what happens in Tibet. He wants to support our trading partner and he feels his not attending would scar many fine young athletes for life. Besides, he feels the monks will get over it, and that the Tibetans are really better off sticking with China. He asked us to get some spin going to explain all this to the American people. It is time to spin up our propaganda propellers one more time people! May the god of spin be with us. On this one, we need good spin! Damn good spin!
