The Liberations formed out of a London Sunday music night where musicians
play a mix of sophisticated jazz and funk in the lounge atmosphere of trendy
Greenwich winebars.
The need for early chill and lounge music alongside late night party classics developed into what we now know as The Liberations, a band that can dress, impress and get punters on the dancefloor!
Fronted by the talented Andrea Britton, who has supported names such as Kylie, Damien Rice and Dirty Vegas, appeared on various TV/Radio shows including ITV’s Stars in Their Eyes and the Jonathon Ross radio show...www.myspace.com/andreabritton.
Andrea is joined by pianist Stephen “Lord” Large who was the keyboard-player in the Electric Soft Parade, and more recently with The Ordinary Boys, The Dualers, Graham Coxon and Squeeze. Numerous TV appearances have included keyboard surfing on TOTP with the E.S.P., dueting with Glenn Tilbrook on Later with Jools, being very Cool For Cats with Squeeze on Al Murray and swinging with Rod Stewart on the Paul OGrady show.
The latest addition to The Liberations is singer/guitarist John Wells from Deal in Kent. John’s repertoire spans from 60s pop/rock classics to current day indie pop/rock.
Andy Jones on drums, Niall Oates on bass and saxophone and Ben Cummings on trumpet make up this rather eclectic bunch of London fellas.
With both male and female vocalists this six piece band can play music from 30s and 40s swing jazz, 60s soul and motown through to 80s and 90s party anthems. The band are able to expand easily with additional horn players.
The Liberations are not just a conventional cover band. Many musical “additives” find their way into a performance that keeps each of the musicians on their active little toes and keeps their audience immersed until they say its time to stop!.
